HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 240, No Resolution Number240 / A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) NEW CRAWLER TRACTOR FOR USE IN TIE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and direct 'd to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of one (1) new crawler tractor for use in the Department of Public Works, having the following specifications: Current manufacturer; five (5) roller srawler tractor; single diesel engine; I four (4) cylinders, four (4) cycle, minimum of 70 H.P.; electric starting system,' minimum of 12 volts, including starting motor, heavy duty generator, and batteries; crank case guard, hour meter, precleaner fuel strainer, two (2) headlights and one (1) rear light; minimum of fifteen (15) inch ribbed track shoe bucket capacity 11 cu. yds.; bucket width to be wider than the over-all width of the tractor; dumping height 8 to 9 feet; hydraulic control system; heavy duty engine clutch; heavy duty steering clutches; heavy duty cooling system; parts manual and operating manual to be delivered with equipment; colors to be specified by the City Manager. Each bidder is to state the amount he will accept in cash for the purchase price of such crawler tractor, and also the amount of such purchase price to be i allowed by accepting as trade-in of one (1) 1953 TD -9 Ihternational Crawler Tractor with one (1) cu. yd. capacity bucket. Each bidder shall state the percentage of discount that will be allowed the City on the purchase of future parts; shall state the length of time required for delivery after the purchase contract is awarded; and shall give full information as to guarantees. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted at the City Hall door and by insetting notice of the request for bids in the Sun - Democrat to be published once a week for three (3) consecutive weeks. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received up to the time fixed in the notice f the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids and the city of Paducah shall not become obligated to purchase said crawler tractor until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract. SECTION 3.
