HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 238, No Ordinance Number23Y f, AN ORDI{MANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE AND CONVEYANCE OF CERTAIN LAND IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY OWED BY SUCH CITY TO TIE SALVATION ARI. -I1', A CORPORATION OF THE STATE OF GEROGIA, AND l'y PRESCRIBIAIG THE TERMS AND CONDITIO{dS OF SUCH SALE AND COISVEYANCE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF CWaSSIOMERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, does hereby authorize and direct the sale and conveyance of the hereinafter described land in the City of Paducah, Kentucky owned by said City to The Salvation Army, a Corporation IIof the State of Georgia, as follows: "Beginning at a point where the East property line of "B" Street is intersected by the North property line of Seventeenth Street, said point being 305 feet North of the N.E.Corner of the in- tersection of "B" Street and Guthrie Avenue; thence in a westerly direction and with the N. property line of a 60 foot street known as 17th Street a distance of 66 feet to the beginning of a curve having a radius of 120 feet to the center line of 17th Street; thence in a Noethwesterly and Northerly direction continuing along the curving Easterly property line of 17th Street a distance of 111. 4 feet to the end of said curve; thence in a Northerly direction continuing along the Easterly line of 17th Street a distance of 138 feet more or less; thence in a Westerly direction and with the Northerly line of 17th Street a distance of 67.5 feet to the corner of a lot owned by E. C. Hughes and wife; thence in a northeasterly direction and with the south= easterly line of the Hughes lot and with the Norhtwesterly line of a proposed 50 foot street a distance of 141 feet to the southeast corer of the Hughes lot and in the line of a proposed 25 foot alley; thence in a northwesterly direction and with the rear line of the Hughes and the S. E. Bynum lot and with the southwesterly line of said proposed 25 foot alley, a distance of 79.6 feet to the northeast corner of the Bynum lot; thence in a southwesterly direction and with the Northwesterly line of the Bynum lot and with the line of a proposed alley, 56 feet more or less to a stone in Easterly line of a 25 foot alley, Oakland Terrace Addition, corner to a lot owned by G. L. and Alice Robertson; thence in a Northeasterly direction and with the Easterly line of said 25 foot alley, 96 feet more or less; thence in a southeasterly direction with the northeasterly line of a proposed 25 foot alley and alomg a line 25 feet from and parallel with the rear line of the lots owned by Bynum and IIughes, 125 feet more or less to a point in the Northwesterly line of a proposed 50 foot street, at the extension of the southeasterly line of the Hughes lot, said point being also the beginning of a curve having a radius of 150 fe4t to the center line of said proposed 50 foot street; thence with said curve and with the Northerly side of said proposed 50 soot street in an Easterly direction 190 feet more or less to the end of said curve; thence in an Easter- lydirection and with the Northerly line of said pro- posed 50 foot street a distance of 57 feet more or less to the north line of 16th Street, in Baumerts Addition, said point being located 789.67 feet ?Horth of the North property line of Guthrie Avenue, and being the south wrest corner of a lot owned by Arthur Uhite; thence in a Southerly direction alomg the West- erly line of Lot 19, Block "C", Baumerts Addition, 0-1 owned by Citizens Savings Bank, Trustee, parallel with and 269.67 feet from "A" Street, a distance of 327.67 feet to the South West corner of the Citizens Savings Bank, Trustee lot; thence in an Easterly direc- tion and with the South line of the Citizens Savings Bank Trustee lot, a distance of 23.67 feet to the line of a lot owned by J. I.I. Dunn and wife; thence in a Southerly direction parallel with "A" Street and with Dunn's West line 146 feet; thence in a Westerly direction and'with Dunn's North line, parallel with Guthrie Avenue 90 feet; thence in a Southerly direc- tion and with the East line of "B" Street, if extend- ed 11 feet to the point of beginning. Less and except however, a strip of land 50 feet wide on the west and north side of the above described land for street and other public purposes extending from_ the east line of 17th Street to the east line of -the above described property. Being a part of the same land conveyed to the City of Paducah on'Itiay 4, 1949 by James G. Wheeler, Executor of the last Will and -Testament of Mamie K. wheeler, deceased by deed of record in Deed Book 27$, page 55 in the McCracken County Court Clerk's office. SECTION 2. Such sale and conveyance is for a consideration of One o ar ,P .00) cash and the further consideration that such property shall be used only by The Salvation Army in the conduct of its regular business and affairs; and in event such property at any time in the future should cease to be used for such purpose for a period of one (1) year, the title in and to the same is to revert to the City of Paducah. SECTION 3. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby.authorized and directed to convey the above described land as set out in Section 1 to The Salvation Army, a corporation of the State of Georgia by a conveyance containing no warranty of title, and subject to any conditions that might be shown by an accurate survey of same. SECTION 4.
