HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 206, No Ordinance Number206 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 2 AND 3 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE OBTAINING AND PROCURING OF LIFE INSURANCE ON THE GROUP PLAN FOR PRESENT AND FUTURE EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH UNDER CIVIL SERVICE, NOT INCLUDING POLICE AND j FIREMEN, AND ALL FULL-TIME, PERMANENT EMPLOYEES OF THE WHITE AND COLORED PARK BOARDS, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PA'DIENT OF PREMIUMS I THEREON AND APPLICATION OF DIVIDENDS", WHICH WAS ADOPTED ON MAY i 22, 1951 AND AMENDED ON AUGUST 16, 1955 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMNIISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Sections 2 and 3 of an ordinance containing the title quoted above, which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on May 22, 1951 and amended on August 16, 1955, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that said sections as amended shall read as follows: "SECTION 2. The gross premiums shall be paid by contributions .z 2 CGaa e�,P-k from the employees and the City of Paducah on the following basis: The employees shall each contribute monthly the sum of Sixty ($0.60) Cents for $1,000.00 of insurance and the City shall contribute the balance of the cost of said monthly premiums not exceeding fifty (50%) per cent of said monthly amount. In the event said monthly premiums exceed the sum of $1.20 per employee per $1,000.00 of insurance, then the monthly premiums shall be paid by employees and the City in equal amounts. All earned dividends on such insurance policy or policies shall be paid to the City and shall be and become a part of the General Fund. "SECTION 3. Said premiums shall be paid in monthly installments and shall be set apart out of the amount due and owing to said employees by the City as of the payroll period ending the 15th day of each and every month hereafter so long as said insurance shall remain in full 113 3 force and effect. "The John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company of Boston, Massachusetts, having proposed a planc1of such group life insurance and by the terms of which each member of said group of insurance as herein provided would have an insurance benefit on his life in the sum of $1,000.00 to $5,000.00 as may be elected by the employee subject to the hereinafter defined limits, the Mayor is authorized to execute by signing, on behalf of the City and subject to the conditions con- tained in this ordinance, an application or contract for the procurement of such insurance. 207 "The total insurance benefits for said employees shall be as follows: "Employees earning less than $350.00 per month shall be entitled to $3,000.00 of insurance benefits, and those earning $350.00 or more per month shall have insurance benefits of $5,000.00." SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are, to the extnet of such conflict, hereby repealed. SECTION 3.
