GREGORY TO EXERT ALL POSSIBLE EFFORTS IN ASSISTING THE ILLINOIS CENTRAL RAILROAD COMPANY TO RETAIN ITS CONTRACT FOR CARRYING UNITED STATES NAIL BETWEEN FULTON, KENTUCKY AND LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY WHEREAS, recently the Illinois Central Railroad Company discontinued two daily passenger trains between Fulton, Kentucky and Louisville, Kentucky, and WHEREAS, as a result the United States Postoffice Department has can- celled, or has proposed to cancel its contracts with the Railroad Company for the transportation of United States mail between Fulton, Kentucky and Louisville, Kentucky, and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the city of Paducah, Kentucky, is of the opinion that such cancellation will cause such a reduction in the revenue of the Railroad Company that it will seek to discontinue its two passenger trains now traveling between said cities, and WHEREAS, it is of the opinion that the withdrawal of all passenger train service between Fulton, Kentucky and Louisville, Kentucky, will be detrimental to the City of Paducah, Kentucky and surrounding territory; NOW, THEREFORE, BE.IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COD1'IISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, That Honorable Earle C. Clements, United States Senator, Honorable John Sherman Cooper, United States Senator, and Honorable Moble J. Gregory, United States Congressman, be and they are hereby requested to use all possible effort in securing the continuation of all contracts of the Illinois Central Railroad Company for the transportation of United States mail between Fulton, Kentucky and Louisville, Kentucky; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk forward a copy of this Resolution to each of them.
