HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 13, Page 827, No Ordinance Number827 AME AN ORDINANCE AKENDING SECTIONS 1 AND 2 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE CREATING A BOARD TO BE KNOWN AS TIME T CO&IIISSIONERS OF 14ATER WORKS' TO BE CUMPOSED OF THREE MEMBERS WHO SHALL SERVE WITHOUT COMPPENSATION TO SUCCEED THE MEIBERS NOW SERVING AS SUCH C014U SSIONERS AND PRESCRIBING THEIR QUALIFICATIONS, TERMS OF OFFICE, P01WER AND DUTIES", IIHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF C011IISSIONERS ON AUGUST 6, 1946 AND ATTENDED ON JANUARY 25, 1949 AND ON FEBRUARY 8, 1949. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COIuiISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Sections 1 and 2 of an ordinance containing the title quoted above, which ordinance was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on August 6, 1946 and amended on January 25, 1949 and on February 8, 1949, be, and the same are hereby repealed, amended and reordained so that said sections as amended and re - ordained shall read as follows: IMCTION 1. There is hereby created a commission to be styled }Commissioners of Idater .;'lorks' composed of five (5) members to be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the City Legis- lative body. They shall be residents and legal voters of the City of Paducah, Kentucky. The two (2) present members of such Commission shall serve for indefinite terms subject to removal by the City Legislative body for cause. The terms of the remaining three (3) members are hereby fixed as follows: One member to be appointed for a term of one year; one member to be appointed for a term of two years and one member to be appointed for a term of three years. Upon the expiration of each of said terms respectively, and thereafter, the term of each of such members shall be three years. In the event the term of either of the two present incumbent members should be vacant by reason of death, resignation or any other cause, the member appointed as successor to same shall be appointed for a period of three years. In addition to the five members provided for by this ordinance, the Mayor shall appoint a member of the legislative body of the City who shall be an ex officio member of the commission as provided for by KRS 96.320. The appointments of the aforesaid remaining three members for the aforesaid terms and the appointment of a member of the legislative body shall be effective as of January 6, 1958. 828 � ;I' r3jL�rgC SECTI01? 2. The members of the Commissioners of !*later lwks shall serve without compensation. Each of said Commissioners shall execute a bond in the sum of •.;5,000.00 for the faithful per- formance of his duty, the premium on said bond to be paid as other operating expenses of the dater ?lorks are paid. Three members of the Commission shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business." SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
