HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 13, Page 806, No Ordinance NumberM' AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS FOR THE OPERATION OF AI+BULANCES IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COPE•?ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to operate any ambulances or other vehicles used �G primarily for the transportation of sick or injured persons in the City of Paducah, Kentucky unless the owner thereof shall have in full force and effect a policy or policies of liability insurance filed with and approved by the Board of Commissioners,issued by a responsible and solvent insurance company or companies licensed to do business in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, providing indemnity for or protection to such person against liability or loss resulting from the operation of such vehicles in the sum of ~?25,000.00 on account of injury or death to any one person in any one accident, and a total of `1100,000.00 on account of any one accident resulting in an injury to or death of more than one person, and .15,000.00 on account of damage to property in any one accident. Said policy or policies shall apply to and cover each and every ambulance or other vehicle described above owned or operated by the insured. SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to operate any ambulance or other vehicle used primarily for the transportation of sick or injured persons in the City of Paducah, Kentucky until such ambulance or vehicle has been inspected and approved by the Chief of the Police Department of said city, or some one under his direction, as to its condition with regard to the safety of its operation and as to its warning signals which shall be a minimum of one flashing red light and one siren, and each such vehicle operated in the city shall be inspected at least once each period of four (4) months. SECTIOII 3. Ambulances and other vehicles used primarily for the transportation of sick or injured persons while being operated as such shall have the right of way with due regard to the safety of the public, but no such vehicle is to operate at a speed in excess of those heretofore provided for by ordinance and shall not enter or cross any street against a stop signal when doing so would endanger the safety of any person or persons. 807 SECTION 4. Any violation of any term of this ordinance shall constitute a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof any person, firm or corporation violating same shall be fined not less than ;;;10.00 nor more than ;1100.00 for each offense, and a separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues.
