HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 13, Page 703, No Resolution Number703/ A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE CITY?S RB:2UIRE1dEI9T OF ASPHALT (EITHER LIQ -UID OR EMULSIFIED, OR BOTH) FOR THE YEAR 1957 (Aid AMOUNT EQUAL TO APPROXIMATELY 15 TO 20 CARLOADS) TO BE USED IN STREET CONSTRUCTIO__N AND REPAIR WORK . BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COI�11ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City 1,1anager be, and he is hereby, authorized to advertise for the purchase of the city?s requirement of asphalt for the year 1957 (an amount equal to approximately 15 to 20 carloads). Bidders are to give quotations on types I.1C-2, I1C-3, RC -2, RC -3 liquid asphalt and/or types RS, 1,13 and SS emulsified asphalt. The bid price to be f.o.b. 6th & Campbell Streets, Paducah, Kentucky. Bidders are to quote prices for transportation by railroad tank car and/or by transport truck. Orders are to be placed by collect telephone call to the successful bidder or bidders and delivery to be made within three to four days after order if shipped by rail and twenty-four hours after order if shipped by transport truck. All asphalt must meet. Kentucky State Highway specifications and RC and I.1C types asphalt must meet Kentucky State Highway specifications 11 of r7 -7-7-C and f7 -7-$-C, and each shipment of liquid asphalt made by transport truck must be accompanied by a certified statement of gallonage and net gallonage figured at 600 F. The successful bidder on liquid asphalt will be required to furnish and install a 10,000 or 12,000 gallon storage tank equipped with fittings and steam coils for heating MC and RC liquid asphalt and if shipped by rail such asphalt to be delivered in 6000 or 10,000 gallon insulated tank cars equipped with fittings and steam coils for heating. The successful bidder on emulsified asphalt shall be required to furnish and install a 10,000 or 12,000 gallon storage tank. All bids shall provide a guarantee against advance in the ' market price and guarantee a reduction in price in the event of a decrease in the market price. The successful bidder shall post a performance bond in the stun of :.;2,500.00 guaranteeing specifications and delivery. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids. SECTION 2. The 'City Aianager shall advertise for bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in at least one (1) issue of the Sun Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least seven (7) days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten (10) days from 704 the date on which this resolution is adopted. No bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City I4anager up to the time fixed in the notice shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the bid to the lowest responsible bidder or bidders. SECTION 3.
