HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 13, Page 68, No Ordinance NumberAl 6$ AN ORDINANCE AIMENDING SECTION 5 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHNENT OF A CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, UNDER ARID PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF 'AN ACT CONCERNING CIVIL DEFENSE?, BEING CHAPTER 5$ OF THE ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEI+IBLY OF TIIE COI-DION- IVEALTH OF KENTUCKY, ADOPTED AT ITS 1952 SESSION; PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINMENT OF A DIRECTOR OF CIVIL DEFENSE AND PRESCRIBING THE POIUERS AND DUTIES TO BE VESTED IN SUCH AGENCY AND IN THE IIMMERS THEREOF; ARID REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT ^1HEREWITH17, tAIICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COIILIISSIONERS OPI OCTOBER 14, 1952• BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF C0I•21ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, IE,NTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 5 of an ordinance containing the title quoted above, which was adopted on October 14, 1952, be, and the same is hereby amended and reordained so that said Section as amended and reordained shall read as follows: "SECTION 5. The members of the auxiliary police selected by and to serve under the Director of Civil Defense when a state of emergency is declared by the I!ayor or whenever requested by the Chief of the Police Department, shall not exceed 50 in number and they are hereby authorized and empowered to carry arms and to make arrests, and they shall have all of the powers and respon- sibilities of other police officers of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Each such officer shall, before entering upon the performance of his duties, execute a bond, with corporate surety, to be approved by the City Treasurer, said bond to be in the same amount and to contain the same terms and conditions as bonds executed by regular police officers of the City. The premium for such bonds shall be paid by the City of Paducah." SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
