HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 13, Page 602, No Ordinance Number602 '� AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH MIDDLE WEST ROADS COMPANY FOR THE RESURFACING OF NOT MORE THAN TEN BLOCKS OF STREETS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, INCLUDING THE RAISING AND RESETTING OF MANHOLES, CATCH BASINS AND MONUMENTS, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SAID CONTRACT BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City !Manager be, and he is her4by, authorized to contract with Middle West Roads Company (hereinafter referred to as the Contractor) for the resurfacing of not more than ten (10) blocks of streets in the City of Paducah, Kentucky set out and described in a Resolution passed by the Board of Commissioners on August 2$, 1956, and said work shall be done on the following terms, conditions and specifications: said surfacing is to be from gutter to gutter with full widths to street property lines at all intersections. The surfacing of•the present pavement shall be leveled where necessary and surfaced with 1z" application of Kentucky State Highway Class "I", Type "B" Bituminous concrete surfacing, Class "I" Bituminous leveling course, said work to include bituminous prime coat and the raiding and resetting to grade of manholes and catch basins located in the areas to be surfaced. All work is to be performed under the direction of the City Engineer and shall be paid for when same is certified, approved and accepted by the City Engineer. Said work of resurfacing z a ll be paid for by the City to said Contractor on the following basis: Class I Type B bituminous concrete surface mixtures using all limestone aggregate for the sum of Seven dollars and eighty-five cents (,0.85) per ton. Bituminous prime coat RS -1 complying with highway specifications for the sum of Twenty cents (80.20) per gallon. Raising and resetting manholes, catch basins and monuments for the sum of Fifty dollars (p50.00) each. The Contractor shall resurface only such blocks of said streets as may be authorized in writing by the City Manager, and such authorization shall not exceed the total number of 10 blocks. The Contractor is to execute a performance bond or bonds in an amount not less than theestimated cost of the work authorized by the City Manager to insure the proper performance and completion of said work and in addition will be required to keep in full force and effect liability insurance to protect the City from any claim to persons or property of persons in the following amounts: 603 $10,000 for personal injury or death to any one person 9'20,000 for personal injury or death to more than one person resulting from the same accident, and a 5,000 for damage to property in any one accident. SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be introduced at a regular • meeting of the Board of'Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon.its final passage, but it being necessary for the public health and safety of the City of Paducah, Kentucky that such streets be resurfaced as soon as possible, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption. _6 �.1.;.•.�� /tel ^-�--� �ror Introduced by the Board of Commissioners September 11, 1956 Passed by the Board of Commissioners September 25, 1956 Recorded by Sarah Thurman, City Clerk, September 25, 1956.
