HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 13, Page 485, No Ordinance NumberAN ORDINANCE AI•IEiQDIVG SECTION 5 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: 01AN ORDINANNCE PRESCRIBIiNG RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT'OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREVITH«, WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COIIiaSSION- ERS ON JUNE 16, 1937 BE IT ORDAIiNED BY THE BOARD OF COD&IISSIOPIERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 5 of an ordinance containing the title quoted above, which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on June 16, 1937, be, and the same is hereby amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall read as follows: "SECTION 5. Members of the Fire Department may be dismissed, demoted and suspended for any of the following causes: (1) Drinking beer, wine, whiskey or any other alcoholic or intoxicating liquor while on duty or while wearing any part of his uniform. (2) Being intoxicated either on or off duty. (3) Insubordination or disrespect to the City Manager, the ilIayor, any member of the Board of Commissioners, or to any superior officer or employee,' -or refusal or failure to obey or execute any command or order given by a superior officer. (4). Loitering while on duty or imile wearing his uniform. (5) Conviction in any court of a felony. (6) Attempting to in any way influence any personts vote in any election, or interfering with or obstructing the holding of any election or registration of voters. (7) Allowing as many as three (3) Orders of Attachment or Garnishees against his salary or wages for just debts. (8) Cowardice, inefficiency or neglect in the performance of duty, or disobedience of lawful orders of a superior officer. (9) Such mental, physical or educational incapacity or disability as renders him incapable of properly performing his duty. (10) Abandonment of, without just cause, or failure to support his family. (11) Any inunoral habits, lascivious or improper conduct not herein enumerated which would render him an unfit or im- proper person for employment in the fire department, or which would in any way tend to bring discredit or criticism to the fire department, the city government or any of its employees. (12) The acceptance of any gift or contribution of any kind from any person or persons which may be calculated to place such member of said fire department under obligation to the contributor or anyone else. I L,86 (13) Entering any disorderly house except in the discharge of duty. (14) Using indecent, profane or obscene language while on duty or while wearing any part of his uniform. (15) Impoliteness or rudeness in dealing with •the public or in the performance of duty. (16) Slovenliness or untidiness in his person or uniform or failure to wear the prescribed uniform while on duty. (17) Being absent from duty without proper permission. (18) Engaging in disputes or quarrels with another employee or member of the department while either or any of them are on or off duty, or using any indecent, obscene or profane names or language in addressing any officer of the depart- ment or other persone" SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed. SECTION 3.
