HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 13, Page 463, No Ordinance NumberAN ORDINANCE DIRECTING TIME CITY TREASURER TO WITHHOLD' TIC, STATUTORY FEE OF lao FOR THE COLLECTION OF SCHOOL TAKES LEVIED FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, MID PROVIDING FOR THE DISPOSITION OF THE FEES SO COLLECTED AND RETAINED n WHEREAS, the City Treasurer has heretofore collected taxes levied.for the benefit of the Board of Education of the City of 6""" Paducah at no expense to the Board of Education and at no charge to said board, and WHEREAS, Kentucky Revised Statutes Section 160.500 (1) provides that the regulat tax collectors for the tax levying authorities that make the school levies for the various school districts shall be entitled to a fee at the rate of 4% for the collection of school taxes, and WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah that the statutory rate of 47o is a reasonable charge and is necessary to help defray the expenses involved in the collecting of taxes. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF C01,224ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Treasurer of the City of Paducah, Kentucky be, and he is hereby directed to withhold the statutory fee of 4% of all tax collections made for the benefit of the Board of Education of the City of Paducah, Kentucky. SECTION 2. All sums of money withheld by the City Treasurer as set out in Section 1 hereof shall be placed in the general fund of the City of Paducah to be applied against the tax collection ,pxpenses of the City of Paducah. SECTION 3.
