HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 13, Page 377, No Ordinance Number377 Ali ORDINANCE Ai•EPiDING SECTION 6 OF AIi ORDINANCE ENTITLED; "A111 ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING THE RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE POLICE DEPARTI.ENT OF TIIE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY; PRESCRIBING THE QUALIFI- CATIONS, POWERS AND DUTIES AND FIXING TIL COI•IPEINiSATIOPi OF THE 7Q1- -01E -;FS OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING A SEPARABILITY CLAUSE, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREVI^1H", WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMIISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH OIi JANUARY 7, 1947, AFID AI -ENDED MAY 8, 1951 BE IT ORDAINED BY THF, BOARD OF CO111ISSIO11TERS OF THE CI^lY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 6 of an ordinance containing the title quoted above, which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on January 7, 1947, and. amended on iiay 8, 1951, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that as amended said section shall read as follow s: 'TSECTIODi 6. Qualifications and requirements for all appli- cants for membership in the Police Department shall be as follows: 1. Must be of male ser.. 2. !,lust be not less than 21 years of age and not more than 40 years of age. 3. I -lust be a qualified voter of the City of Paducah and an orderly and law abiding citizen. 4. Must be of good moral character, sobriety and integrity. 5. IIust be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language, and must be a graduate from a recognized high school. 6. Must successfully stand and pass an "All' physical examination by a physician designated by the City I,Ianager. 7. Must furnish satisfactory references from at least five (5) reputable citizens of the City of Paducah. 8. Hust possess such other minimum qualifications as may be required by applicable statutes of the Commonwealth of Kentucky." SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby -repealed. SECTION 3.
