HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 13, Page 357, No Ordinance Number357 �� AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF WEST TENNESSEE LIMESTONE COMPANY FOR SALE TO THE CITY OF PADUCAH OF NUMBER 9 AND NUMBER 11 LIMESTONE, KENTUCKY STATE HIGH117AY SPECIFICATIONS, FOR USE BY THE CITY DURING 1955, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AND EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF SAME, ARID PRESCRIBING TIIE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UNDER IMICH SAID; PURCHASES SHALL BE MADE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COP,ZiISSIONERS OF TIIE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY; SECTION 1_ That the bid of west Tennessee Limestone Company for the sale to the City of Paducah of Number 9 and Number 11 limestone, Kentucky State Highway Specifications, required by the City during the year 1955 (approximately 5000 to 8000 tons) be accepted, and that the City Eanager be, and he is hereby, authorized to enter into and execute a contract for the purchase, upon the order of the City, of all such number 9 and number 11 limestone to be used during the year 1955, such contract to provide for the price of 5)2.08 per ton. The limestone to be delivered to any destination in the City of Paducah, Kentucky as ordered by the Director of Public Vlorks in 100 ton lots or more and delivery to begin within twenty-four (24) hours after notification and continue until the required amount has been delivered. All freights of delivered limestone must be certified from some accurate scale in or near the City of Paducah at the expense of the Seller. The Seller shall furnish representative samples of the limestone upon request of the Director of Public IVorks. The Seller shall guarantee against advance in the market price and guarantee reduction in the event of a decrease in the market price. The Seller shall post a performance bond in the sum of $1,500.00 guaranteeing specifications and delivery of the limestone. SECTION 2_ This ordinance shall be introduced at a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, but it being necessary for the public health and safety of the citizens of Paducah that said material be available as soon as possible for street repair work, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
