TIIEIR PRESENT STRIKE DIFFERENCES TO ESTABLISHED METHOD OF
1iEDIA^1ION
WMI REAS, a strike now exists in the telephone industry
and negotiations between the Communications Workers of America and
Southern Bell Telephone'Company have failed to produce a settlement
of differences to the inconvenience of the public; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky feels that their interest and that of all the public and
that ours should be a means, fray or method under the laws of our
democrary to bring all those concerned in accord;
NM THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COId-'!ISSIOjiF-HS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KEIiTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah, recognizing the
serious condition that exi is in the communications service and
its effect on the public, does hope, and accordingly recommend
that the issue between the Union and the Company be settled in
a recognized and established method of mediation or other legal
and accepted means that would speedily close these disputes which
so vitally affect the public.
SECTION 2. That a copy of this resolution be forwarded
to the Communications Workers of America and the Southern Bell
Telephone and Telegraph Company and the newspaper published in the
City of Paducah, Kentucky.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
