HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 13, Page 230, No Resolution Number23V A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR TRANSPORTATION OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY TO HOLD A HEARING UPON THE NECESSITY AND DEMAND FOR BUS SERVICE IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY. WHEREAS, the Paducah Bus Company, the present operator of city buses in Paducah, Kentucky, has notified the City that it will cease its operations on December 31, 1954; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah desires the city to have bus service after said date, and is of the opinion there is a demand and necessity for such service; and WHEREAS, KRS 281.635 provides that no person shall apply for or obtain any franchise or,authorization for city bus operation without a prior finding by the Department of Motor Transportation of the Common- wealth of Kentucky, after a hearing, that there is a demand and necessity for such service. NOVI THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the Department of Motor Transportation of the Commonwealth of Kentucky be, and the same is hereby, requested by this ordinance to hold a hearing in the City of Paducah, Kentucky to ascertain whether or not there is a demand and necessity for city bus service in said city. SECTION 2. That the Mayor of the City of Paducah, Kentucky be, and he is hereby, authorized to sign any formal application or other document that might be required by said Department of Motor Transpor- tation. SECTION 3. That two certified copies of this Resolution be forwarded immediately by the City Clerk to the Department of Motor Transportation at Frankfort, Kentucky. SECTION 4_ This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
