HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 983, No Resolution Number0 9$3 �— A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF UNSPECIFIED QUANTITIES OF 6, 8, 10 AND 12 CUBIC YARD"STEEL, DROP BOTTOM REFUSE CONTAINERS OF A TYPE TO PERMIT PICKUP BY TRUCKS AND HOIST OF 7,500 POUNDS CAPACITY; SUCH CONTAINERS TO BE DESIGNED IN THE STYLE OF THE UNIVERSAL CONTAINER (MANUFACTURES BY DEMPSTER BROTHERS, INCORPORATED, ALSO, TWO 3 -CUBIC YARD DROP BOTTOM CONTAINERS FOR USE WITH THE ELGIN $1-D STREET SWEEPING MACHINE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized, to advertise for the purchase of unspecified quantities of 6, 8, 10 and 12 cubic yard steel, drop bottom refuse containers of.a type to permit pickup by truck and hoist of 7,500 pounds capacity; such containers to be designed in the style.of the universal container manufactured by Dempster Brothers, Incorporated. Also, two 3 -cubic yard drop bottom containers for use with the Elgin 81-D street sweeping machine to be used for collection of refuse. Each bidder shall submit his lowest and best bid for the aforesaid erquipment, said price to be f.o.b. Paducah, Kentucky. Bidders trill also give earliest reliable delivery date and length of guarantee on said equipment; and shall provide list of users, indicate nearness of service facilities and parts supply. SECTOON 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in at least one (1) issue of the Sun -Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least seven (7) days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten (10) days from the date on which this Resolution is adopted. No bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of bids shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the contract to the lowest responsible bidder. The Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally obligated to purchase.said equipment until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract. SECTIONS This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
