HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 98, No Resolution NumberA RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A BOOKREEPING MALCHINE FOR USE IN THE FINANCE OFFICE AidD PRESCRIBING TIM TERIJS AND CONDITIONS UNDER "�FdICH BIDS SHALL BE RECEIVED 'WHEREAS, by reason of the adoption of an ordinance providing for the levy of a license tax upon persons employed by others, a bookkeeping machine and other office equipment must be made available for use in the finance office; and WHEREAS, the purchase of said bookkeeping machine will involve an expend- iture of more than tir1,000 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY T=IE BOARD OF C011JISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENIRJCKY: SECTION 1. That the City I:Ianager be, and he is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah of one (1) new bookkeeping machine with a typewriter keyboard. Each bidder shall state the lowest amount acceptable for payment of the purchase price for said bookkeeping machine and shall submit a complete description of the machine he proposes to sell. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted up at the city hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in at least one issue of the Sun -Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least seven days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten days from the date on which this resolution is adopted. No bid shall be received unless under seal, nor shall any bid be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the contract to the lowest responsible bidder. The Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the city sIa ll not become legally obligated to purchase said bookkeeping machine until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract. SECTION 3.
