HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 702, No Resolution NumberA RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO NEW FIVE PASSENGER, FOUR DOOR AUTOMOBILES FOR USE IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SAID PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah of two new five passenger, four door automobiles, black color, having a minimum horsepower rating of 95, to be used in the Police Department of the City of Paducah, Each bidder is to state the amount he will accept in cash for the purchase price of the automobiles he offers for sale and also the amount he will accept in payment of the purchase price for two new automobiles by accepting as trade-in Police car No. 7 and a Plymouth coupe which bear license numbers 5276, 52 sticker No. 440, and No. 5061, 52 sticker No. 473, so the city can determine the cost of purchasing two new cars and the trade-in allowance therefor. The cars to be purchased, whether by payment of cash f d r the full purchase price or by trade-in allowance of the aforesaid used cars, shall be of the kind having a list price of not more than $2,000 each. Each bidder shall state in his bid the length of time required for delivery after a con- tract is awarded. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice post up at the city hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in at lust one issue of the Sun -Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least seven days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten days from the date on which this resolution is adopted. No bid shall be received unless under seal, nor shall any bid be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice shall be filed with the Board of Com- missioners who may let the contract to the lowest responsible bidder. The Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to beject any and all bids and the city shall not become legally obligated to purchase said automobiles until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract.
