HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 651, No Ordinance Number651 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 8 AND 9 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE PLACING OFFICES AND POSITIONS OF TRUST OR EMPLOYMENT IN THE SERVICE OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, UNDER CIVIL SERVICE RULES AND REGULATIONS PUR- SUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF KRS 90.300 TO 90.990; PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A BOARD OF CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSIONERS, FIXING AND PRESCRIBING THE QUALIFI- CATIONS, TERMS OF OFFICE, POWERS AND DUTIES OF SAID COMMISSIONERS; PRESCRIBING THE RULES BY WHICH THE BOARD OF CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSIONERS SHALL BE GOVERNED IN THE GIVING OF EXAMINATIONS TO APPLICANTS FOR EMPLOYMENT; FIXING THE NUMBER, CLASSI- FICATION AND SALARIES OF ALL EMPLOYEES IN EACH DEPARTMENT WHO SHALL BE AFFECTED BY THE CIVIL SERVICE RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE CONDUCT OF ALL EMPLOYEES AFFECTED THEREBY AND THE CAUSES FOR WHICH ANY EMPLOYEE MAY BE REPRIMANDED, SUS- PENDED, DISMISSED OR REMOVED FROM EMPLOYMENT BY THE CITY; PROVIDING FOR AND ESTABLISHING A RETIREMENT SYSTEM AND THE CREATION AND MAINTENANCE OF A PENSION FUND FOR APPOINTIVE EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND AUTHORIZING THE LEVY OF A TAX AND THE ASSESSMENT OF EMPLOYEES FOR THE CREATION AND MAINTEN- ANCE OF SAID FUND; PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO ADMIN- ISTER SAID FUND; FIXING AND PRESCRIBING THE QUALIFICATIONS, TERMS OF OFFICE, POWERS AND DUTIES OF SAID BOARD OF TRUSTEES; PRESCRIBING THE RULES AND REGULATIONS BY WHICH SAID BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND ALL APPOINTIVE EMPLOYEES SHALL BE GOVERNED WITH REFERENCE TO THE GRANTING AND ALLOWANCE OF PENSIONS AND OTHER BENEFITS AND PROVIDING A SEPARABILITY CLAUSE", WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON DECEMBER 2, 1947, AND AMENDED ON DECEMBER 18, 1951. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Sections 8 and 7 of an ordinance containing the title quoted above, which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on December 2, 1947 and amended on December 18, 1951, be and the same are hereby repealed, amended and reordained, so that said sections as amended and reordained shall read as follows: "SECTION 8. There is hereby authorized the followingpositions in the Engineering Department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as follows: Position Number Position Monthly Salary 1 City Engineer, Head of Department $335.00 2 Assistant City Engineer 305.00 3 Instrumentman 255.00 4 Rodman 215.00 5 Chainman 200.00 6 Secretary 205.00 7 Clerk 205.00 3e�v X 652 There is also hereby authorized the following positions in the Street Department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as follows: Position Monthly Number Position Salary 1 Street Superintendent, Head of Department $315.00 2 Assistant Street Superintendent 305.00 3 Foreman 255.00 4 Secretary 212.50 5 Watchman 215.00 6 Watchman 155.00 There is also hereby authorized the following positions in the Cemetery Department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as follows: Position Monthly Number Position Salary 1 Cemetery Supt. Hbad of Department $270.00 Salary per hour 2 Laborers (3 positions) 1.112 There is also hereby authorized the following positions in the Floodwall Department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as follows: Position Monthly Number Position Salary 1 Floodwall Superintendent, Head of Dept. $363.33 1/3 2 Foreman 270.00 3 Maintenance Operators (3 positions) 250.00 Salary per hour 7 Mechanic, 1st Class 1.452 8 Mechanic and General Repairman 1.422 9 Mechanic, 2nd Class 1.2$2 10 Machine Operators (5 positions) 1.40 11 Sewer Maintenance Men (6 positions) 1.40 12 Street repairmen (7 positions) 1.2$2 13 Truck Drivers (8 positions) 1.23 14 ]Laborers (6 positions) 1.172 There is also hereby authorized the following positions in the Cemetery Department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as follows: Position Monthly Number Position Salary 1 Cemetery Supt.
