HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 647, No Resolution Number647 A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF A TRACT OF LAND CONTAINING FROM THREE TO FIVE ACRES, THE LOCATION OF WHICH IS TO BE APPROVED BY THE CITY PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, SUITABLE FOR USE AS A SITE FOR AN ARMORY; AND PROVIDING FOR ITS DONATION TO THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY FOR SUCH PRUPOSE: WHEREAS, funds will be made available by the state and Federal governments for the construction of an armory in the City of Paducah if the site therefor is provided by said city; and WHEREAS, by reason of the great benefits which will be afforded the in- habitants of the city by the construction of said armory, it is deemed advisable by the Board of Commissioners to appropriate sufficient funds for the purchase of a site: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH: SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah arrange for the purchase of a tract of land containing from three to five acres as a site for an armory, the location i of such site to be approved by the City Planning and Zoning Commission, and that sufficient funds be included in the apportionment ordinance of 1952 for such purchase. SECTION 2. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized to make an investigation for the purpose of finding a desirable site and if necessary, to take options for the purchase of whatever site he may recommend, subject to the approval of the City Planning and Zoning Commission, to the Board of Commissioners. SECTION 3. That said land, when purchased, be donated to the Commonwealth of Kentucky when the city has definite assurances that the funds for the construc- tion of an armory have been made available. SECTION' 4. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
