HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 621, No Resolution Number621 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DESIGNATE A STORAGE GARAGEMAN FOR THE PURPOSE OF TOWING AND STORAGE OF VEHICLES ABANDONED OR UNLAWFULLY PARKED ON THE PUBLIC STREETS AND WAYS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY; AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH SAID CARS SHALL BE STORED BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PQDUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized to designate a storage garageman for the purpose of towing and storage of vehicles abandoned or unlawfully parked on the public streets and ways of the City of Paducah as authorized by an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR IMPOUNDING OF VEHICLES PARKED IN VIOLATION OF THE LAW", which was passed by the Board of Commissioners on January 22, 1952. Provided, however, that the towing charge be limited to the sum of not more than ,5.00 for each hour or fraction of an hour required for such towing, which charge shall be paid by the owner of such vehicle before same shall be released; and where it is necessary to use more than one wrecker in removing or recovering a vehicle a charge of not more than 55.00 per hour, or fraction of an hour, shall be made for each wrecker used. The storage garageman to be designated shall maintain and operate 24 hour service and shall provide a safe storage place for said vehicles in such a manner as to preclude tampering and such facilities shall be under supervision of some responsible person or persons twenty-four hours a day. Any storage garageman so designated shall carry a blanket insurance policy covering all cars in his custody against loss by fire, theft and windstorm damage and shall execute bond with good surety acceptable to the City Manager in the sum of $5,000, indemnifying the City of Paducah against any and all claims for damages that may arise by reason of alleged damages or loss to any and all vehicles held in storage by said ggrageman. In addition to the towing charges the garageman shall be allowed to charge such storage charges for the period of time such vehicle is retained in storage as the regular charges to his other customers. SECTION 2. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
