HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 518, No Ordinance Number518/ AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH MID-CONTINENT PETROLEUM CORPORATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF GASOLINE REQUIRED IN GOVERNMENTAL OPERATIONS FOR A PERIOD OF FOUR MONTHS BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 16, 1951, AND PROVIDING THAT PURCHASES SHALL BE MADE UPON THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS SET FORTH THEREIN BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF CON 33IONERS OF TTfE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized for and on behalf of the city of Paducah, to enter into a contract with the Mid -Continent Petroleum Corporation for the purchase of regular gasoline, minimum research octane 84, at a price not to exceed 20.7 cents per gallon; also Ethyl gasoline, minimum research octane 90, at a price not to exceed 22.2 cents per gallon, exclusive of Federal excise tax, on condition that said Mid -Continent Petroleum I Corporation remit to the city the sum of .2 cents per gallon on any purchase of either 84; or 90 octane gasoline; said gasoline to be purchased upon the order of the City of Paducah for use in governmental operations for a period of four months beginning September 16, 1951, and upon the terms and conditions set forth in the written bids of said company received and filed by the Board of Commissioners on August 28, 1951, said terms and conditions as set forth in said bid being referred to and made a part of this ordinance to the same extent as if fully copied herein. SECTION 2. The contract under which said gasoline will be purchased shall fully provide that in the event of a decline in the retail price of said product at any time during said period, the city shall be given the benefit of market reduction in prices and the City Manager shall include in said contract such additional terms and conditions as may be necessary to protect the interests of the City of Paducah. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be introduced at a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners and remain on file at least one week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. As the various departments of the city must be immediately supplied with gasoline for the protection of the public health, safety and welfare, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption. yor o Pm C C.
