HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 516, No Resolution Number51b A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PLUMBING CONNECTIONS TO THE CITY SEWER OF SEVEN BUILDINGS, CONTAINING A TOTAL OF TWENTY-FOUR UNITS, LOCATED AT THE RHODES-BROADY COURT, BETWEEN FLOURNOY AND BURNETT STREETS, AND 10TH AND 11TH STREETS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, AND PRESCRIBING THE SPECIFICATIONS TO BE COMPLIED WITH BY BIDDERS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for the plumbing connections to the city sewer of seven buildings, con- taining a total of twenty-four units, located at the Rhodes -Broady Court, between Flournoy and Burnett Streets, and 10th and 11th Streets in the City of Paducah. In his request for bids the City Manager shall require compliance with the following specifications: SCOPE OF WORK Work includes the furnishing of all labor, materials, tools, appliances, etc., necessary to the proper and complete connections of all plumbing fixtures, water service and drainage system as shown on,the;sketch and described herein.` PERMITS AND CODES All plumbing shall be done in strict accordance with the rules and regula- tions of the plumbing code of the State of Kentucky, as it applies. Con- tractor shall obtain all permits and inspections and a certificate of approval from the Public Authorities having jurisdiction. Should any changes be necessary in the drawings or specifications to obtain such approval, the Contractor shall notify the City Manager at once, and cease work on all parts of the contract which are affected. EXCAVATION The contractor shall do all excavation required for the proper installation of his work. All excavations shall be left open for inspection and testing. When same has been approved, backfill and tamp the excavations thoroughly. SOIL PIPE, WASTE PIPE Soil, waste pipes below grade shall be extra heavy cast iron. No right angle fittings will be allowed except sanitary tees which are used on vertical stacks. Horizontal branches shall be made with "y" branch fittings. Sewers shall pitch not less than 1/$" per foot. CUTTING AND PATCHING No more cutting shall be done than is absolutely necessary. Structural members shall not be cut. CAULKING Soil pipe shall be yarned and poured with lead and then be caulked with a full lead joint, the point to be gas and water tight. CLEAN OUTS Provide clean -outs where necessary or as may be required to execute a first class job. Where clean -outs are necessary, providegrasscrew pluo an iron ferrule that is to be caulked into the pipe orasplug in an iron fitting. Clean -outs to be arranged with long sweep or easy fittings so that the lines may be readily rodded from same. 517 WATER SERVICE All water lines shall be run with galvanized pipe as the occasion demands. Contractor shall run a 1. 1/2" water line underground from the water meter to proper distribution point to insure proper force to fixtures. Upon entering the building, he shall branch with a 3/4° line, INSPECTION Work to be done to the satisfaction of the Plumbing Inspector SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted Fe - up at tie City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in at least one issue of the Sun -Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least seven (7) days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten days from the date on which this resolution is adopted. No bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice shall be filed with the Board of Coirmissioners who may let the contract to the lowest responsible bidder. The Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the city shall not become legally obligated to make such plumbing- connections lumbingconnections until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract.
