HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 50, No Resolution Number50 V A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE NEW FOUR DOOR DELUX SEDAN AUTOMOBILE, BY TRADING IN ON SAID AUTOMOBILE THE 1940 BUICK NOW BEING DRIVEN BY THE CHIEF OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, THE SAME TO BE USED BY THE CHIEF OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT; AND PRESCRIBING THE SPECIFICATIONS TO BE COMPLIED PITH BY BIDDERS: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah of one new four door delux sedan automobile for use by the chief of the fire department of the City of Paducah. In his request for bids the City Manager shall require compliance with the following specifications: (1) The automobile offered for sale shall be equipped with oil bath air strainer, purelator oil filter, heater, with seat covers of as good quality and in as good repair as those covers now on the car driven by the Fire Chief, an extra wheel and tire and standard four ply tires and tubes. (2) The color of the automobile to be purchased shall be red, factory painted. (3) Each bidder shall state the cash amount to be paid by the city by accepting the 1940 Buick automobile as a trade-in. (4) The Mars light, siren, the present generator now installed on the 1940 Buick automobile will be removed and is not included in the trade for the aforesaid new automobile. (5) Each bidder shall submit a complete description of the vehicle he agrees to sell in accordnace with the foregoing specifications. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise f or bids by a notice posted up at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in at least one issue of the Sun -Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least seven days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened with- in ten days from the date on which this resolution is adopted. No bid shall be received unless under seal, nor shall any bid be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City Manager up to tte time fixed in the notice shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the contract to the lowest responsible bidder. The Board of Commissioner shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the city shall not become legally obligated to purchase said car until the adoption of an ordinance author- izing the execution of a contract. 51 SECTION 3.
