HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 468, No Resolution Number468 A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE PADUCAH AIRPORT CORPORATION, LESSEE OF THE PADUCAH-McCRACKEN COUNTY AIRPORT KNOWN AS BARKLEY FIELD, TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS OF CONTRACTORS FOR FURNISHING ALL LABOR AND MATERIALS AND PERFORMING ALL WORK IN CONNECTION WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF IMPROVEMENTS UPON THE BARKLEY FIELD UNDER THE PROJECT OF THE CIVIL AERONAUTICS ADMINISTRATION, PROJECT NO. 9-15-001-102; PRESCRIBING THE MANNER IN WHICH SAID BIDS SHALL BE ADVERTISED; AND AUTHORIZING THE PADUCAH AIRPORT <<:[ CORPORATION, AS AGENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH AND McCRACKEN COUNTY, KENTUCKY, TO RECEIVE BIDS AND TO ACCEP T, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY AND COUNTY, THE BID DEEMED BY IT TO BE THE LOWEST AND BEST, AND VESTING IN SAID CORPORATION THE CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT OF SAID PROJECT WHEREAS, the United States of America acting byand through the Civil Aeronautics Administration, has tendered to the City of Paducah and McCracken County, Kentucky, and they have accepted, a grant offer in the sum of $37,500 for the construction of the following improvements upon the Paducah -McCracken County Airport known as Barkley Field: - "Grade; drain; turf; fence; construct curb, gutter, sidewalk, truck and baggage ramps, retaining wall and crushed stone surface auto parking area; pave apron (approximately 200+x4504; approach clear- ance", (all in addition to work previously approved under Project 9-15-001-901. AND WHEREAS, plans and specifications satisfactory to the Civil Aeronautics Administration have been prepared and the City and County is now authorized to advertise for bids of contractors for the construction of said improvements; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the Paducah Airport Corporation, Lessee of the Paducah - McCracken County Airport, and as agent of the City of Paducah and McCracken County, Kentucky, be and it is hereby authorized to advertise for bids of contractors to furnish all labor and materials and to perform all of the aforesaid work under Project 9-15-001-102 of the Civil Aeronautics Administration for the improvement of Barkley Field in accordance with the plans and specifications therefor prepared by Simpson & Heil, Consulting Engineers and Aviation Consultants Bf Louisville, Kentucky. SECTION 2. The Paducah Airport Corporation, or its secretary shall advertise for bids by a notice posted up at the city hall door and also at the court house door of McCracken County, Kentucky, fifteen days prior to the opening of bids. In addition thereto, a notice of the request for bids shall be inserted in the Sun -Democrat, a daily newspaper publication of the City of Paducah and in the Louisville Courier Journal, a daily newspaper publication of the City of Louisville, Kentucky, in its issued of Wednesday, July 25th, Wednesday, August 1st, 1951, and 469 said bids shall not be opened until Wednesday, August 8th, 1951 at 10:00 A.M. No bid shall be received unless it is under seal, nor shall any bid be received after the hour fixed in this resolution for the opening of bids. The Paducah Airport Corporation may, in itv discretion, let the contract to the lowest responsible bidder, but the right to reject any and all bids shall be reserved. SECTION 3The Paducah Airport Corporation is hereby authorized and empowered, for and on behalf of the City of Paducah, to enter into a contract with the successful bidder for the constructionof the aforesaid improvements, to generally supervise the construction of said improvements, to receive and expend the funds therefor, and to have the complete control of the development of said project.
