HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 439, No Ordinance NumberAN ORDINANCE AItENDING SECTION 1 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC FINANCE AND PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTI•:ENT OF A DIRECTOR IN SUCH DEPARTMENT AND SUCH OTHER CLERICAL ASSISTANCE AS MAY BE NECESSARY THEREIN, AND FIXID:G THE AMOUNT OF OFFICIAL BOND OF SAID DIRECTOR AND OF THE CITY MANAGER", WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON JANUARY 3, 1934. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 1 of an ordinance containing the title quoted above, which ordinance was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on January 3, 1934, be, and the same is hereby amended and reordained so that said Section as amended and reordained shall read as follows: "Section 1. There is hereby created and established the department of Public Finance, under the control of the City Manager, and which department shall have charge qnd control of the collection, receipt, deposit and disbursement of all public funds of the City of Paducah, Kentucky. The Director of said depart- ment shall be styled "City Treasurer2. The City Iv:anager is authorized to appoint a City Treasurer and in the absence of the duly appointed City Treasurer, or in the event of a vacancy in the position, the City Manager may appoint an acting Treasurer who shall temporarily perform the duties of the Treasurer during the latter's absence or inability to perform his duties, or while said position is vacant. The City Treasurer shall make daily deposits of all funds received by him during the preceding twenty-four hours, and shall furnish to the City Manager, at any time when demanded, a certificate from the depository or depositories of such funds, showing the balance on hand to the credit of the city, and shall furnish such other information•, upon demand, as may be required by the City Manager, showing the amount of funds on hand, whether on deposit or not, and showing the account to which they are properly credited." j i SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are, to the extent pf such conflict, hereby repealed. SECTION 3.
