HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 405, No Ordinance Number405 AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING TILE BID OF .LAWRENCE SANDERS FOR PURCHASE AND REMOVAL OF SIX BUILDINGS ON THAT PROPERTY KNOWN AS VETERANS VILLAGE AT 23RD AND OHIO STRE IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH; DIRECTING THE SALE OF SAID BUILDINGS TO LAWRENCE SANDERS; PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SAID SALE AND AUTHORIZING THd MAYOR TO SIGN THE CONTRACT OF SALE FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH. WHEREAS, by reasolution duly adopted by the Board of Commissioners on i•:ay 29, 1951, the City Manager was directed to advertise for bids for the sale of buildings and improvements located in Veterans Village, 23rd and Ohio Streets, Paducah, Kentucky, known as Veteran's Houving Project Ky-VO15-140, and designated buildings "D" "F" "Kill "L" 110" and "Q" on the Plat of the Paducah Municipal Housing Project Ky. 6-3; and WHEREAS, said sale was so advertised as directed in said resolution and bdds having been received and filed, and it appearing to the Board of Commissioners that the bid of Lawrence Sanders dated June 8, 1951, offering j1,700 for all of said buildings is the highest and best bid for said buildings, appurtenances and improve- ments attached thereto; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the bid of Lawrence Sanders of 5?1,700 for the purchase of buildings, appurtenances and improvements thereto belonging designated as "D", "F", "K", "L", 71011, and"Q" on the plat of the Paducah A:unicipal Housing Project Ky.6-3 be and the same is hereby accepted and sale of same be made to Lawrence Sanders for the sum of ;x1,700 subject to the terms and conditions hereinafter set out. SECTION 2. The terms and conditions of said sale are that in consideration of the sale by the city of the six buildings referred to in Section 1 herein and payment of the sum of :;x1,700 to the City of Paducah by said Lawrence Sanders, i said purchaser will completely move said buildings, appurtenances and other im- provements attached thereto from said property within thirty days after the adoptions I of this ordinance and said purchaser will guarantee the removal of said buildings, j appurtenances and such improvements as are attached to said buildings and will insure possession of the property on which same are located within thirty days i after the adoption of this ordinance; said sale shall further be on condition that the purchaser hold harmless the City of Paducah and the Municipal Housing Authority from any injuries or damage which may result from purchaser's removal of said build8 ings; it is understood that the city will not guarantee that said buildings will be free of tenants but the purchaser take said buildings as they stand. SECTION 3. Stuart Johnston, Mayor of the City of Paducah, is hereby directed and empowered to sign a contract of sale with the purchaser, Lawrence Sanders, same to be attested by Sarah Thurman, the City Clerk, and said contract of sale shall contain the terms and conditions provided in Section 2 herein. 4G6 SECTION 4.
