HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 391, No Ordinance NumberX AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE GOVERN ING AND REGULATING THE INSTALLATION AND INSPECTION OF ALL ELECTRICAL WIRING AND APPLIENCES WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY; ESTABLISH- ING THE FEES AND CHARGES FOR MAKING ELECTRICAL INSPECTIONS; PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF AN ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR; PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES OF THE ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR AND FIXING THE AMOUNT OF HIS COMPENSATION; PROVIDING THE PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCESIN CONFLICT THEREWITH", WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON MARCH 6, 1951 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 2 of an ordinance containing the title quoted above in the title hereof, which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on March 6, 1951, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that as amended said section shall read as follows: "SECTION 2. Any and all electrical wiring hereafter installed in any family residence or apartment, except those located in the area described "fire zone", within the corporate limits, bhall, if such wiring is to carry a current exceeding fifty volts, be installed in metal conduits, metal moulding, armoured cable, or Romex with a ground wire, and installed in such manner as to comply with the re- quirements of the above mentioned Code. All flexible cords used in connection with metal conduits, metal moulding or armoured cable wiring, shall be approved portable cords. All materials, flexible cords, fittings or devices shall be of an approved type. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to conceal electrical wiring until after said wiring shall have been inspected by the Electrics Inspector to be designated by the City and a certificate of approval issued. It shall be unlawful for any electric light or power company to connect with, or furnish current to any electrical installation within the corporate limits of the city, until after such electrical imstallation shall have been inspected by said Electrical Inspector and a certificate of approval and acceptance issued." SECTION 2.
