KENTUCKY; ESTABLISHING THE FESS AND CHARGES FOR MAKING ELECTRICAL INSPECTIONS; PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTN:ENT OF AN ELECTRICAL. INSPECTOR; PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES OF THE ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR AND FIXING THE AMOUNT OF HIS COMPENSATION,; PROVIDING THE PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION; THEREOF; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF CONTSISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION? 1. All electric wiring and appliances hereinafter installed in or f�'I attached to any building or structure, within the corporate limits of this city, shall be installed in accordance with the rules, regulations and requirements of The National Electrical Code o.f 1947, Standard of the National Board of Fire Underwriters for Electric 11iring and apparatus Recommended by the National Fire Protective Association, which Code was adopted by the City of Paducah on January 20, 1948, and in compliance with the rules, regulations andrequirements of what- ever Code may be in effect at the times such electric wiring is done or appliances are installed. SECTION 2. Any and all electric wiring hereafter installed in any building or structure, other than in one or two family private dwellings within the cor- porate limits, shall, if such wiring is to carry a current exceeding fifty volts, be installed in iron conduits, metal molding or armoured cable, installed in such a manner as to comply with the requirements of the above mentioned Code. All flexible cords used in connection with iron conduits, metal molding or armoured cable wiring, shall be approved portable cords. All materials, flexible cores, fittings or devices shall be of an approved type. It shall be unlawful for any person, .firm or corporation to conceal electric wiring until after said wiring shal have been inspected by the Electrical Inspector to be designated by the city and a certificate of approval issued. It shall be unlawful for any electric light or power company to connect with, or furnish current to any electric installation within the corporate limits of the city, until after such electric installation shall have been inspected by said Electrical Inspector and a certificate of approval and acceptance issued. SECTION 3. All wiring shall be maintained in accordance with the code in effect at the time sudiwiring was installed, and in the event of remodeling all new wirin" shall be installed in accordance with this ordinance. In the event service has bee disconnected or discontinued in any building or structure because of any defects therein necessitating a re -wiring of said building or structure or replacing of any material part of said wiring therein, a certifiEate of inspection shall be secured before service is reconnected, but no inspection shall be required nor any certificate of inspection secured in any case where the removal of a meter has resulted from the voluntary discontinuance of service or change of tenants or occupants in a building where the wiring therein has not thereafter been replaced or renewed. DED 306 The E14ctrical Contractor applying for such permit shall Furnish to the Electrical Inspector such prints, diagrams or other information as he may require relative to the proposed installation. All wiring shall be installed in electriaal metallic tubing or rigid conduit in the fire zone of the City of Paducah and in all business buildings. Provided, however, such tubings and conduits shall not be required if the Elec- trical Inspector finds that other types of tubing and conduits would not create a hazard and authorizes the use of such other tubing and conduits by endorsing on the permit that such permission is granted. SECTION 4. No permit for electrical wiring or for the installation of electrical equipment shall be issued to any contractor who has not paid to the City of Paducah the occupational license required for the privilege of following such occupation or trade, and it shall be the duty of the Electrical Inspector to endorse on each permit issued by him the occupational license number of the con- tractor to whom such permit is issued. SECTION 5. For the purpose of carrying into effect the provisions C S of this ordinance, the position of Electrical Inspector is hereby created and established. The Electrical Inspector shall administer and enforce all of the s aye g oprovisions of the Electrical Code in effect at the time wiring is done or elec- �,e,, S trical appliances are installed. Yie shall be a person qualified to perform the duties required in Sections 1, 2 and 3 hereof, and in addition it shall be the duty of the Electrical Inspector to collect and account for the fees and charges provided in Section 6 of this ordinance. For his services said Electrical Inspector shall be paid a salary of $250.00 per month, said salary to be paid at the same time the salaries of other city employees are paid. The Electrical Inspector shall execute a bond in the sum of $1000 for the faithful performance of his duties and the accounting of any and all fees paid to or collected by him. SECTION 6. For making electrical inspections as provided in this ordinance there shall be charged to each person owning or having property inspected the i following rates for said service, to -wit: 5 " (1) Fees for all types of wiring methods for lighting nI /2 S or qny system where sockets or receptacles are in- tended to be installed for lamp -holding devices or for the attachment ofsmall portable devices not herein provided for. (15) Each service installation of 60 amps or less ----------------- 3.00 100 amps ----------------------------------------------------- 3.50 200 amps ----------------------------------------------------- 4.00 400 amps ----------------------------------------------------- 1;..50 308 (16) For increasing the size of a service, changing the location of service or meter center -where no other fee is assessed -------------------------------------------- ;.;3.00 (17) Thermostats and devices of similar nature used for control purposes, connected to a lighting of power circuit where no other fee is assessed each------------------------------------------------------- 1.00 (18) Temporary wiring as provided for elsewhere in ordinance for lights and power included ------------------------------ 1.50 (19) The installation of any wiring, device, apparatus, appliance or equipment operating on voltage in excess of 100 and not specifically covered herein, each -------------------------- 1.00 (20) For each additional inspection where inspectors are required to make additional trips on account of permittee's failure to comply with all provisions of National Electric Code, eachtrip -------------------------------------------------- 1.50 (21) For all work performed on Sundays, holidays and after regular working hours, at request of permittee all fees heretofore enumerated shall be at double time rate. SECTION 7. Any person, firm, company, corporation or association fails to comply with any of the provisions of the aforesaid ordinance shall upon conviction thereof, be fined not less than Ten (x10.00) Dollars, nor more than One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars for each failure to so comply, and each day said ordinance or the requirements or provisions thereof are so violated shall constitute a separate offense. SECTION 8. If any section or provision of this ordinance shall bw found to be inoperative for any cause, the invalidity of such section or provision shall not affect any other section or provision of this ordinance, it being the purpose of this ordinance to make each and every section and provision hereof separable from all other sections and provisions. SECTION 9. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed. SECTION 10.
