HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 1110, No Ordinance NumberAN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF THE AIMERICAN LAUNDRY MACHINE COMPANY I14 THE AMOUNT OF 822,829.00 FOR SALE AND INSTALLATION OF CERTAIN EQUIPI•ENT IN THE RIVERSIDE HOSPITAL ADDITION; PRESCRIBING TERMS AND CONDITIONS THEREOF, AND AUTHORIZING THE EYECUTION OF A CONTRACT THEREFOR WHEREAS pursuant to a resolution authorizing the City Manager to advertise for bids for certain laundry equipment, bids were duly received from Troy Laundry Machinery Division of the American I,+achine and 14etals, Incorporgted, and American Laundry Machinery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio; and WHEREAS the bid of Troy Laundry Plachinery Division did not contain quotations per item for purposes of additions and deletions as required by the specifications and bid forms and therefore it is believed that said bid is insufficient for the purpose of additions and deletions; and 117HEREAS the bid of American Laundry Machinery Company complies with the bid requirements in that it contained price quotations per item for purposes of additions and deletions; and WHEREAS the Paducah Municipal Hospital Commission has recommended the i acceptance of the bid of American Laundry Machinery Company with certain deletions so as to reduce said bid to �22,$29.00 and it appearing that said bid is the lowest responsible bid; I NODI THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COPIMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the bid of American Laundry i�iachinery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio for sale and installation of laundry equipment in Riverside Hospital Add'iti n as heretofore advertised and as indicated on the drawings and specifications therefor be and the same is hereby accepted as the lowest responsible bid .for said installed equipment, except, however said total materials and installation shall be reduced by deleting therefrom the following items with the charges therefrom as specified in said bid: 1 3011 Solid Curb Extractor $1,521.00 1 3611;13011 Tumbler 901.00 1 Press Unit 2,325.00 1 Puff Iron 89,00 1 Sorting Rack 57.50 Total Amount of Reduction 93.50 The original amount of said bid being $27,722.50 shall be reduced by the above deletions in the amount of ,`?4,$93.50 making a total net bid of $22,829.00 which is the amount hereby approved and accepted as the lowest responsible bid. The equipment, materials and labor shall be in accordance with the Laundry Equipment Specifications, which was the basis for bidding, and all terms and conditions thereof shall be complied with by said American Laundry Machinery Company. Said bidder shall comply with all laws, ordinances and regulations in the performance of said work. Said bidder shall place said equipment as pro- vided for in the blue prints and drawings applicable thereto as heretofore prepared by T. J. Nolan & Sons, Architects, of Louisville, Kentucky. SECTION 2. That Idayor Robert C. Cherry is hereby authorized and directed for the City of Paducah, to contract with said company for said equipment; that the contract shall incorporate all the terms and conditions of said bid and the specifications on which bids for said equipment was based; and such other terms and conditions as the Corporation Counsel may believe to be to the best interest of the City; that the contract price shall be $22,829.00 and the City of Paducah shall not be obligated until said contract has been duly executed. SECTION 3. The cost of said equipment shall be assessed to the Riverside Hospital Building Fund and payable therefrom upon completion of said installation. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be introduced at a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners and remain on file for public inspection for at least one (1) week, in its completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, but because of the urgent need of said equipment to aid in completion of the Hospital Addition and the health and welfare requiring immediate commencement of said work, an emergency is hereby declared and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption. i.-layor /�— Introduced by the Board of Commissioners March 10, 1953 Passed by the Board of Commissioners March 17, 1953 Recorded by Sarah Thurman, City Clerk, March 17, 1953
