HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 1013, No Ordinance Number1013 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE BID OF KRUG-TH01 S TRUCK AND TRACTOR CONPANY, FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF PADUCAH OF ONE 7,500 POUND CAPACITY HOIST SUITABLEIVOUNTED ON A CHASSIS OF AT LEAST 18,000 POUND GVW FOR USE IN THE COLLECTION OF REFUSE IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH SAID BID IS ACCEPTED; AUTHORIZING'THE l•FAYOR, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF SAID HOIST, AND APPROPRIATING THE SNIE OF $6,170.00 FOR PAYMENT OF THE PURCHASE PRICE THEREOF, 1THEREAS, pursuant to a resolution adopted by the Board of Commissioners, bids were requested for the sale to the City of Paducah of one hoist of 7,500 pound capacity suitably mounted on a chassis of at least 18,000 pound GVW to be used for the collection of refuse in the City of Paducah; and ITtHREAS, the bids of Cooke Chevrolet Company and Krug -Thomas Truck and Tractor Company were submitted and after being given consideration it has been determined that the bid of Krug -Thomas Truck and Tractor Company is the lowest and best that has been submitted; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINTED BY THE BOARD OF C0jWjSSI0NERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the bid of Krug -Thomas Truck and Tractor Company for the sale to the City of Paducah of one 7,500 pound capacity hoist suitably mounted on a chassis for use for the collection of refuse in the City of Paducah be, and the same is hereby accepted upon the following conditions: (a) That the said hoist shall be of 7,500 pound capacity suitably mounted on a chassis of at least 18,000 pound GVW for which the City shall pay the sum of 06,170.00. (b) That sdid hoist shall meet all of the specifications set forth in the bid submitted by Krug—Thomas Truck and Tractor Company. (c) Said hoist suitably mounted on chassis shall be delivered within a period of thirty (30) days from the date on which the contract of purchase is entered into. SECTION 2. That Robert C. Cherry, the Mayor, is hereby authorized to enter into a contract providing for the purchase of said hoist mounted on chassis upon the terms and conditions set forth herein, and upon such other terms and conditions as the .City Manager and the Corporation Counsel may require for the protection of the interest of the City of Paducah, and the City shall not become obligated to purchase the aforesaid hoist mounted on chassis until a contract has been entered into. SECTION 3. There is hereby appropriated the sum of 06,170.00 for payment of the purchase price for the aforesaid hoist mounted on chassis, the amount thereof to be charged against the funds appropriated to the Street Department oj' the City of Paducah under the revised annual apportionment ordinance for the year 1952. 1014 SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be introduced at a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners and shall remain on file one week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. As the City of Paducah presently has no system or facilities for the collection of refuse and it is imperative that the necessary equipment be immediately provided in order to preserve and protect the public health, safety and welfare of its citizens, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
