HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 11, Page 814, No Resolution NumberA RESOLUTION APPROVING TIE A PLICATION OF TIIE CITY OF PADUCAH T.IUNIC_IPAL HOUSING COMMISSION FOR TIE ALLOrn'E_IT OF F'aMS IN A?I AG;OUNT ffOT TO EXCEED TUO HUNDRED TEN THOUSAND ("210,000.00) DOLLARS FRO;.: UNITED 3TATE3 GOVERMENT FOR FRELIPSINARY SURVEYS AND ! _......:_:!G IN CONNECTIO:; ';]ITif THE DEVELOI=- 'dE7T OF NOT F;C3 DINrG EIGHT (300) ADDITI017AL gMELLIiIG UNITS TO PROVIDE LOIN RENT HOUSING FACILITIES .HEREAS, on January 15, 1945, the City of Paducah adopted a resolution approvinL the post war housing; proC.ram planner by the City of Paducah Eunicipal Housing Coniniission, and authorizes the filing of an a^plication for the allotment of funds by the Federal Public housing f,uthority for the purpose of developing new housing units within the City of Paducah: and EREAS, Federal funds will now be made available for such purposes and the Housing Authority of the City of Paducah Municipal Housing Commission desires to apply to the Public Housing Administration in accordance with the provisions of the United States housing Act of 1937, as amended, for a Freliminary Loan in t`:e amount of '210,000-00 to cover tte costs of surveys and planni❑ in connection with the development of not to exceed approximately 900 dwelling units of low-rent public housing; and "::'REAS, there exists in the City of Paducah a need for such loco-rent public housin.7 at rents .. ithin the means of lou-income families, especially families of living or deceased veterans and servicemen, which need is not being met by private enterprise; and 111MEAS, such a condition constitutes a menace to the health, safety, morals and welfare of the inhabitants of the City; NOW THEREFORE., BE I^ RESOLVED EY TIE LOARD OF COf--,MISSIOXERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SEC TIOf£ 1. That the Commissioners of the City of Paducah, in conformity vi the action ta;cen by there by the adoption of the aforesaid Resolute of January 16, 1945, do hereby approve the Application of the Housing Authority of the City of Paducah i.:unicipal :lousing Conm:iss to the Iublic housing Administration for a Preliminary Loan in an amount not to exceed '210,000.00, to cover the costs of surveys and planning in connection with the development of not to exceed approximately 300 dwellinG units of low-rent public housing in the City of Paducah; and do hereby declare their intent to enter hereafter into an agreement with said Housing Authority for tlo local cooperation by the City in the provision of said lc:+r-rent public housing r:hich may be required by the Fublic H'ousin Administration pursuant to the United States Eousing Act of 1937, as amended.
