The apportionment and appropriation of the public funds and revenues of the City of Paducah for the gear 1947, pursuant to the Eudget adopted by the Eoard of Education of the City of Paducah, and the levy made to meet the requirements of said Board under said budget, as well as ti -e rates of other levies as approved and established by the .--card of Commissioners of said City, and to that extent only, shall be added to and included in the tax bills for said year, and shall be collected by the City Treasurer and accounted for as collected, and as required by law to be accounted for to the Board of Education of said City, except that so much of said taxes as are levied and collected for interest and sinking fund purposes, a nd f or the payment of school improvement bonds shall be retained by the City Treasurer ani apportioned and applied to said accounts; and provided further that the levy for the benefit of the I-aducah Junior College shall be paid by said City to the Treasurer of said college, and the levy for the benefit of the public library shall be paid by said city to the Board of Trustees of the Public Library SEC TI.OII 3. The salaries of all municipal employees are hereby increased Ton (.".-,'10.00) Dollars per month with the exception of the Chief of t', Fire Department, the Chief of the Police Department, the Corp oratioi Counsel, Assistant Corporation Counsel, the two City Physicians, the Delinquent Tax Attorney, the Alcoholic Beverage Administrator, the Tog Catcher, the incinerator laborer, the dump watchman and the wharfmaster, and also with the further exception of the social 79 worker whose salary shall be increased Five (~15.00) Dollars per month, said salary increases to become effective beginninfT June 1st, 1947, and there has been appropriated under :lection 1 of this ordinance su`ficient funds for payment of the increases in salarie as provided herein beginning June 1st, 1947. SECTION 4. That on the 15th day of recember, 1947, an approximate estimate shall be made of the amount necessary to pay maturing claims until the 1st day of January, 1948, and all accounts in excess of said actual needs shall be converted into the General Fund of the City for the purpose of taking up and discharging obligations of the City. SEC TIO;u 5. The necessity of fixin a rate of taxation in time to permit during. the month of .pril the payment of taxes by persons who wish to take advantage of the discount allowable under the statute requires the immediate adoption of an ordinance apportioning the public funds for the year 1947; therefore, in order to preserve and protect the public interest, welfare and safety of .the citizens and taxpayers of the City of Paducah, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after Its adoption. i,:ayor Introduced, April 23, 1947 Passed by the Board of Commissioners, April 30th, 1947 Recorded bj Sarah Thurman, City Clerk, ripril 30th, 1947.
