HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 11, Page 680, No Ordinance Number68- AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE MID-CONMENT PETROLEUM CORPORATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF GASOLINE AND OIL REQUIRED IN GOVERNMENTAL OPERATIONS FOR A PERIOD OF FOUR (4) MONTHS BEGINNING MAY 1, 1949, AND PROVIDING THAT PURCHASES SHALL BE MADE UPON THE TERMS AND CON- DITIONS SET FORTH THEREIN BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SEC TION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized, for and on behalf of the City of Paducah, to enter into a contract with the Mid -Continent Petroleum Corporation for the purchase of regular gasoline at a price not to exceed 21.q per gallon, including 7¢ per gallon State Tax but excluding 1.5g per gallon Federal Tax; also Ethyl gasoline at a price not to exceed 23.18 per gallon, including 7g per gallon State Tax but excluding 1.5;1 per gallon Federal Tax; also for the purchase of First Grade Motor Oil (Diamond Brand), SAE Grades 10-20-30-40-50-60, at 43g per gallon (in 55 Gal. drums) )exclusive of any Federal excise tax; and also Detergent Motor Oil (DX Brand), SAE Grades 10-20-30-40-50, at 56g per gallon (in 55 Gal. drums) exclusive of any Federal excise tax; said gasoline and oil to be purchased upon the order of the City of Paducah for use in governmental operations for a period of four (4) months beginning May 1, 1949, and upon the terms and conditions set forth in the written bid of said company received and filed by the Board of Commissioners on April 12, 1!1949, said terms and conditions as set forth in said bid being referred to and made a part of this ordinance to the same extent as if fully copied herein. SECTION 2. The contract under which said gasoline and oil will be purchased shall fully provide that in the event of a decling in the retail price of said products at any time during said period) the City shall be given the benefit of the reduction in price, and the City Manager shall include in said contract such additional I terms and conditions as may be necessary to protect the interests of the City of Paducah. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be introduced at a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners and remain on file at least one week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall I be put upon its final passage. 681 As the various departments of the City must be immediately supplied with gasoline and oil for the protection of the public health, safety and welfare, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
