ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE GRANTING OF LEAVES OF ABSENCE FOR VACATIONS TO ALL EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, WITH THE EXCEPTION OD MBIEBERS OF THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS; PROVIDING FOR THE GRANTING OF SICK LEAVE TO ALL EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY, INCLUDING THE MEMBERS OF TIME POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS; AND PRESCRIBING THE RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE GRANTING OF SUCH LAVES OF ABSENCE," WHICII 2:+AS ADOPTED BY THE BOARS OF COMMISSIONERS ON NOVEMBER 25, 1947 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COIZIISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KEN'T'UCKY: SECTIOI, 1. That the title and Sections 1, 4 and 6 of an ordi nance bearing the title quoted above, which was adopted on November 25, 1947, be, and the same is hereby repealed, amended and re-orda7 so that said title and sections as amended and re -ordained shall read as follows: "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE GRANTING OF LEAVES OF I ABSENCE FOR VACATIONS, SICKNESS, AND MILITARY TRAINING TO ALL EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UNDER `•'WHICH SUCH LEAVES OF T'ti 3 d ABSEIICE MAY BE GRANTED. "SECTION 1. Vacation leave. Each employee of the City of 1 1 Paducah regularly employed on a .full time basis and appointed by ti City Manager, except members of the Police and Fire Departments, ai the City Manager shall be entitled to vacation leave of one workin; day for each month of service, and each such employee may accumula leave credits on this basis up to a maximum of eighteen working da, Each member of the Police and Fire Departments shall be entitled t vacation leave of 1 1/4 calendar days :for each month of service an, may accumulate leave credits on this basis up to a maximum of toren one calendar days. For purposes of this section a Saturday on leave shall be considered as one-half of a working day, and a mont in which a salaried employee is paid for fifteen days or more and daily or hourly wage employee is paid for twelve days or more shal be considered as a month of service. Vacation leave shall be taken by an employee upon approval of a department head at a time that will not interfere unreasonably with the operation of the dep meet. d Y- r t - An employee may be advanced the num,ver of clays of vacation i leave that would be earned during; the remaindor of the current calendar year, but if an employee is soparatod from employment before such advance leave in accrued under this ordinanco the li employee shall reimburae the city for the amount of unaccruod loavo that waa taken, and for this purpose a doduct.ion shall. be maiio from t:ho employee's final payroll (.hock. -- —h r 629 Regular full time employees paid on an hourly wage basis shall receive vacation pay at their regular hourly rate for the number of hours in their regular daily shifts for each working day while on vacation leave. Upon termination of employment an employee shall be paid for any unused accrued vacation leave not to exceed eighteen working days, except that members of the Police and Fire Departmonts shall be Dai for any unused accrued vacation leave not to exceed twenty-one calends days. An employee granted a leave of absence with pay for any purpose shall continue to accrue vacation leave at the rate prescriIled in this section during such absence. "SECTIOi; 4. military leave. Each employee of the city regularly employed on a full time basis and appointed by the City Manager, except members of the Police and r'ire Departments, and the City Manager shall be entitled to military leave of not to exceed fifteen calendar days in each calendar year in addition to vacation leave for the purpose of attending training courses of the U.S.Armed Forces or Kentucky National Guard. Such military leave shall not in any event exceed the number of days actually required for attendaneq at such training courses, including travel time to and from the plate of training. An employee takinS military leave under this section shall be paid by the city the amount, if any, by which his regular salary or average rages over the last six months exceeds total compensation received by reason of attendance at such training course, exclusive of travel pay. "SECTION 6. Effective date. This ordinance shall become effective on January 1, 1948, and after that date only vacation and sick leave accrued in accordance with the provisions of this ordina�ce shall be taken by any employee of the city." SECTION 2.
