HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 11, Page 601, No Ordinance Number601 , V/ AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY TREASURER TO TRANSFER THE SUM OF $2018.97 remaining in the account for removal of the STREET CAR RAILS TO THE, CREDIT OF THE GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH FOR USE IN THE PAYMENT OF EXPENSES FOR GENERAL GOVERNMENTAL OPERATIONS WHEREAS, under an ordinance adopted by the Board of uCommissioners on October 20, 1942, as will be shown in Ordinance (Book No. 10, page 797, the City of Paducah authorized the sale and removal of all street car rails which became the property of said city pursuant to an agreement entered into on December 2, 1935, for settlement of the case of City of Paducah vs. Kentucky Utilities Company, and said street car rails were re- moved in 1942 under a project conducted by the City of Paducah in conjunction with the Work Projects Administration; and WHEREAS, the city's contribution to said project amounted to $14,579.00 which was represented by contributions in cash and kind toward said project, and upon the removal of said rails and the sale thereof, the city received the sum of $2018.97 for the rental of equipment which was used while said rails were being removed; and WHEREAS, it appears that all proceeds derived from the sale of said rails in excess of the city's contribution have been paid to tte Work Projects Administration, and the sum of $2018.97 is available for use in the payment of general govern- mental expenses; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COPWISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby authorized and empowered to transfer to the credit of the general fund the sum of $2018.97 received from the sale of the aforesaid street car rails, the same representing the city's contribution toward the aforesaid project for the removal thereof, and that said sum shall be used and expended in defraying the current and incidental expenses of the city. SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to cause to be published, in the Sun -Democrat a notice of the introduction of this ordinance and the proposal to make the transfer of funds as provided herein, said notice to be published at least one (1) week before this ordinance shall be put upon its final passage. 602 SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be introduced at a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners and remain on file for public inspection two (2) weeks in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, and said ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
