AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF JIM SMITH CONTRACTING COMPANY
INC., FOR THE CITY'S 2002 CALENDAR YEAR STREET RESURFACING AND PAVEMENT
MARKING PROGRAM, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SAME
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah accepts the bid of Jim Smith Contracting Company
Inc., in the amount of $1,761,225.50 for the City's 2002 calendar year resurfacing and pavement marking
program, said bid being in substantial compliance with the bid specifications and advertisement for bids, and
as contained in the bid of Jim Smith Contracting Company, Inc. of February 27, 2002.
SECTION 2. The City of Paducah accepts the bid of Jim Smith Contracting Company, Inc.,
for roadway excavation and reconstruction at the following hourly rates:

SECTION 3. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Jim Smith
Contracting Company Inc., for street resurfacing and roadway excavation and construction as set out in
Sections 1 and 2 above, according to the specifications, bid proposal and all contract documents heretofore
approved and incorporated in the bid.
SECTION 4. This expenditure shall be charged to the following accounts:
003-2217-531-4227 MAP and 003-2217-531-3919
SECTION 5. In order to complete the Convention Center parking lot prior to April 18, 2002,
for the Quilters' Convention, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and th,s ordinance shall become
effective with one reading.
