"3ection 1. The salary of each officer or employee of the
City of raducahi, except the 'ayor, the Commisnioners, the City
arer, the Police Ju£:.Ze, and part-time employees, Prom and aftc;_r
tl:e effOctive date of this ordinance shall not to less than thirty
( 30.00) dollars per month more than the salary rate in effect for
such office or employment as of September 22, 1948.
"3ection 2. For a period of one year beginnin:• with the
effective date of this ordinance, the number of such officers and
employees in each dspartm3nt of the city government and in each
grade and position of city employment shall Le not less than the
number of such officers and employees as of September 22, 1948.
"Section 3. If any section, Provision, or other part of this
ordinance shall be held invalid or inoperative, the validity or
operation of the remainder hereof shall not be affected thereby.
"Section 4. All or^finances and parts of ordinances in con-
flict herewith are, to tto.estent of such conflict, hereby repeale.
"Section F. This ordinance shall become effective January
1, 1949".

voted upon shall be r,erti"ied by the Election Commissioners as any
other pul,lie Question, and the votes tccveon certified to the Eoar
of Commissioners and spread upon the record of this board, and sail
o-dinance if adopted by a majority of the votes cast on said ques-
tion, shall become effective on January 1, 1949.
SECTIO:: 4. The Question of the adoption of said ordinance
shall be printed once in the official newspaper of the city of
Paducah not less than ten days nor more than fifteen days before
