TE CLOSING OF UIE ASSE33MENT BOOP.S OF THE CITY ASSESSOR; PROVIDING FOR THE ETTPLOY- i,':'ENT OF DEPUTY ASSESOORS TO SECURE LISTS OF PROPERTY BY CALLING UPON TAXPAYERS AT THEIR RESIDENCES OR PLACES OF BUSINESS; FIXING THE BEGINNING AND ENDING DATES FOR THE WORK OF ME BOARD OF EtiUALIZATION; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE AND REPEALING ALI ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THERE-71TH BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COZ05ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PA.DUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. All real and personal property within the corporate limits of the city of Paducah, Kentucky, subject to taxation for city purposes shall be assessed each year as provided by law and an ad valorem tax shall be levied thereon for city purposes. SECTION 2. Property shall be listed and assessed for tax- ation purposes in the office of the City Assessor between July 1st and September 1st of each year in the manner _provided under ?CRS 92.430, and the assessment books shall be closed on the following October lst of each year. SECTIONZ. `Ihe City imager may employ any number of special deputies to the City Assessor for the purpose of calling at residences and places of business to list property for taxation and such deputies shall be paid such compensation as shall 'ne determined by the City 1.:anaer, not to exceed the amount appro- priated each year for such purpose. SECTIOIi 4. The Board of Equalization shall meet on October 15th of each year, or on October 16th if October 15th falls on Sunday, and shall remain in session as long as the business requires, but not more than four (4) weeks unless, for cause stated, an extension of time is granted by the Board of Comm- issioners. SECTIOid 5. The provisions of this ordinance are severable. If any section or provision thereof shall be held by the Court to be unconstitutional in invalid, such decision shall not affect or impair the remainder of the ordinance, it bein- the legislative intent to ordain and enact each section and provision separately and independently of each other. II 576 SECTION S. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conf�- ict herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed. SECTIO:? 7. This oedinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
