HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 11, Page 483, No Resolution Number4%3 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THREE NEW FIVE PASSENGER FOUR DOOR AUTO- MOBILES FOR USE IN THE POLICE DEPAR74ENT, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SAID PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY. SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authori- zed to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah of three new five passenger four door automobiles to be used in the Police Department in the City of Paducah. The City Manager shall request alternate bids, the bidder to submit the amount he will accept in cash for the purchase price of the automobiles he offers for sale and also the amount he will accept in payment of the purchase price for three new automobiles by accepting as trade-ins Police Cars Nos 2, 3 and 5, which bear license numbers 5037, 5039 an 5040 respectively. The cars to be purchased, whether by payment of cash for the full purchase price or by trade-in of the aforesaid used cars, shall be of the kind having a list price of not more than ?2000.00 each. Each bidder shall also state in his bid that delivery will be made within thirty (30) days after the contract is awarded and that he is willing to execute a bond in the sum of $2000.00 to guarantee the delivery of said automobiles within that period. SECTION 2. The City Panager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted up at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in at least one b sue of the Sun -Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least seven days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten days from the date on which this resolution is adopted. No bid shall be received unless under seal, nor shall any bid be received after the hour fixed in tie notice for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the contract to the lowest responsible bidder. The Board of Commission ers shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the city shall not become legally obligated to purchase said automobile until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract.
