HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 11, Page 211, No Ordinance Number211 AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF MID-CONTINENT PETROLEUM COR- PORATION FOR THE PURCHASE BY THE CITY OF ALL GASOLINE AND OIL REQUI RED IN GOVERNMENTAL OPERATIONS DURING A PERIOD OF FOUR MONTHS BEGINNING NOVEMBER 1, 1947 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF SAID GASOLINE AND OIL UPON THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS CONTAINED HEREIN, AND UPON SUCH OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS MAY BE REQUIRED BY THE CITY MANAGER WHEREAS, on October 14, 1947 the Board of Commissioners receive and filed the bids of the Mid -Continent Petroleum Corporation and ti Standard Oil Company ?or the sale of gasoline and oil to the City for a period of four months beginning November 1, 1947, and author- ized the acceptance of the bid of Mid -Continent Petroleum Corporatic for the sale during said period of Ethyl gasoline and first grade motor oil, and the acceptance of the bid of the Standard Oil Company for the sale of detergent motor oil for the same period; and WHEREAS, it now appears that the bid of the Standard Oil Companl hich quotes a price on oil "to fluctuate with the market up or down) is not an offer complying with the requirements contained in the request for bids, and that said bid cannot be accepted; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COP+ujISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah accept the bid of the Mid -Continent (Petroleum Corporation for the purchase of D -X Ethyl gasoline at Iposted tank wagon prices at the time of delivery less Federal tax pf one and one-half cents per gallon, and in no event shall the net (rice exceed nineteen cents per gallon; also first grade motor oil, Iiamond T brand at forty-four cents per gallon in 55 gallon drums (nd also detergent motor oil D -X brand, at fifty-seven cents per ' ugallon in 55 gallon drums. Said.gasoline and oil dhall be purchased pon the order of the City of Paducah for use in governmental IIpperations for a period of four months, beginning November 1, 1947, nd the price therefor shall not include Federal excise tax. SECTION 2. The contract under which said gasoline and oil will be purchased ryhall provide that in the event of a decline in the retail price of said products at any time during said period, the city shall be give I,, ihe benefit of the reduction in price, and the City Manager shall inn- .elude in said contract such additionalterms and conditions as may bl necessary to protect the interests of the City of Paducah. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be introduced at a regular meeting of the 212 Board of Commissioners and remain on file atleast one week for bpulic inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put u its final passage. At the various departments of the City must be immediately supplied with gasoline and oil for the.protection of the public health, safety, and welfare, an emergency is hereby deblared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
