HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 11, Page 16, No Resolution Number17 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPOIN'T'MENT OF' A CITIZENS COMMITTEE TO CONFER WITH THE MAYOR AND THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS CONCERNING MUNICIPAL PROBLEMS, UNDERTAKINGS AND PROJECTS, AND OCHER MATTERS OF T:,AJOR IMPORTANCE AFFECTING THE ORDERLY, EFFI-IENT AND ECONO6°IC ADMINISTRATION OF M`(NICIPAL AFFAIRS 11MEREAS, from time to time the y?ayor and the members of the Board of Commissioners initiate legislation which they believe to be of advantage to the City of Paducah, but not knowing or having the opportunity or the means of ascertaining whether the public generally will favor the legislation proposed by them, they find they cannot serve as efficiently as they might if the desires of the citizenship were first made known to them; and WHEREAS, in order to furnish the kind of streets, sidewalks, public improvements, police and fire protection, and other municip improvements and services which the citizens of Paducah wish to hav to provide in the manner which will meet with the approval of the people the funds necessary for the maintenance of the city govern- ment in accordance with standard of efficiency desired, and to approve only those measures which will be accepted with favor gene r. ally, it is deemed advisable to call upon a group of interested, conscientious and reputable citizens for sucgestlons, advices and recommendations concerning any and all matters of major importance affecting the welfare of the City of Paducah; N09J, THEREFORE, CE IT RESOLVED B., THE BOARD OF COMT,7ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION ONE There is hereby created a committee composed of fifteen (15) members to be known as the Citizens, Committee of Paducah who shall confer with and make recommendations to the Mayor and the members the Board of Commissioners concerning municipal problems, under- takings and projects and other matters of major importance affecting the orderly, efficient and economic administration of municipal affairs. The Citizens, Committee shall elect from their number a chairman who shall, either upon his own initiative or at the request of the Mayor or two members of the Board of Commission ers, meet with the Mayor and the Members of the Board of Comm- issioners for the purpose of discussing such matters. a q:.r 17. SEC TION WO The Mayor and the members of the Board of Comm- issioners shall each appoint three persons to serve as members of said committee. SECTION Th"REE This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
