A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CANCELLATION OF A
CONTRACT WHICH THE CITY OF PADUCAH E3TERID INTO WITI; THE UNITED
STATES RUBBER COMPANY, THROUGH ITS EUREKA FIRE HOSE DIVISI021,

.HEREAS, under and nu -suint to an ordinance adopted by
the Board of Commissioners on idovember 4th, 1942, the City of
Paducah, by and throu,^h its City :-lana ,er, entered into a
contract .•iith the United States Rubber Company on November
4th, 1942 for the purchase of 2500 feet of 2�,'; inch Liulte;c 2 Ply
!9ultiplo ':oven `ire hose at the ,)rice of ;;,1.10 per foot, with
ta reduction of 4 per Coot if coupl:ini7s were furnished by the
city and a discount of ? for cash paid within ten days after
delivery; and,

to perform the aforesaid contract for the reason that it was
unable to obtain from the ':"ar Production Board a priority rating
for the sale of the kind of hose described in said contract; and,
WHEREAS, the War Production Board thereafter approved
a priority rating which will enable the City of Paducah to
purchase 1500 feet of sin;le jacket hose;
NOW THEREPORE, 5E IT RESOLVED BY THE EOARD OF
COMIMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, ILETdTUCKI
SECTION 1.
That the City Mpnag*er, II. G. McElwee, be and he is
hereby authorized to join ;A th the duly authorized officials of `
the United States Rubber Company, through its Eureka Fire hose
Division, in an instrument of writing for the nuvpose of
cancelling the aforesaid contract entered into on Ilovember
4th, 1942 between the City of Paducah and the United States
Rubber Company for the purchase of 2500 feet of the 2 Ply L:ultiple
Woven hose.
SEC TION 2.
That ypon the cancellation or the aforesaid contract
with the United States Rubber Company, the City r•;ana`.er is
directed to re -advertise for bids for the purchase by the
city of 1500 feet of 21 inch single jacket fire hose coupled
and delivered with malleable iron couplin;-s, with a test
pressure of 400 poinds, and of the kind and quality which
will permit shipment under the priority rating- which has been

issued by the PJar Production Board. He shall advertise by
postin7 up at the City Rall door a request for bids and also
by inserting notice of the request for bids in at least one (1)

issue of the Sun -Democrat, said notice to be published at beast
seven (7) days prior to the openin,c of bids. Ho bids shall be
opened within ten (10) days after the date on which this
resolution is adopted, and no fids shall be received after
the hour fixed ,:or the opening of bids.
