HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 10, Page 677, No Ordinance Number677 AN ORDINANCE CREATING AN IDENTIFICATION BUREAU N THE 5 �,�� POLICE DEPARTMENT OF `KIE CITY OF PADUCAH; PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINT v LENT OF A DIRECTOR THEREOF, PRESCRIBING HIS DUTIES AND FIXING THEul� AMOUNT OF COMPENSATION V,,THICH HE SHALL RECEIVE FOR HIS SERVICES, AND REPEALING ALL PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COM-1,1ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY SECTIO11 1. There shall be created and maintained in and as a part Of the police department of the City of Paducah an identification bureau and the City Lanager is hereby authorized to appoint a i director of said bureau. The person appointed shall be known as the-irector of Identification and it shall be his duty to take finger-prints and photogtaphs of all prisoners, keep an accurate i record of all arrests, terms of imprisonment, and generally all data pertaining to the conviction and imprisonment or detention of all persons arraigned or tried in the City Court. He shall submit to the City Treasurer a daily report setting forth a record of all arrests made, fines paid, and the judgments entered upon the trial of all cases in the City Court. Any person, whether a member of the police department I or not, shall be eligible for appointment as Lirector of Identification, but upon his appointment to the office_he shall be a member of the police department with power to make arrests and to do and perform all of the duties of a regularly qualified policeman or patrolman, h and shall be responsible to the Chief of Police respecting the conduct and functioning of said bureau, and shall also be subject to all Civil Service rules and regulations. 'i SECTION 2. Upon the a%oointment of a Director of Identification, I� the rank and position of persons serving in the police department, and the order of their superiority shall be as follows' 1st. Chief of Police 2nd. Assistant Chief of Police 3rd. Chief of Detectives 4th. Director of Identification 5th. Captains 6th. Patrolmen, Grade A 7th. Patrolmen, Grade B SECTION 3. The Director of Identification shall execute a bond in the penal sum of 4;1000.00, and shall be required to * execute the same in accordance with the law for the faithful performance F, t of his duties. i 678 SECTION 4. AB,�y� v The person appointed as Director of Identification shall be paid for his services the sum of ;'125.00 per mont4, said salary to be paid to him at the same time and in the same manner as other policemen are paid. I SECTION 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed. SECTION 6.
