A RESOLUTION REQUESTING RAY WILKINS, BUILDING INSPECTOR,
AND DR. C. E. REDDICK, SUPERINTENDENT OF THE MCCRACKEN COUNTY

II EITHER TO BRING SAID BUILDINGS UP TO STANDARD OR TO CAUSE THE
SAME TO BE DEMOLISHED IN COMPLIANCE S'+rITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF
THE CITY MUNICIPAL HOUSING CO::'ISSION
WHEREAS, under an ordinance adopted by the Board of

Commissioners on September 19, 1938, the City of Paducah entered
I
into an agreement with the City of Paducah Municipal housing
Commission under which said city obligated itself to cause to be
brought yip to standard or to be demolished within the corporate
limits of the city unsafe and insanitary dwelling units of a
number at least equal to the number of new dwellings to be provided
by the projects of said commission less the number of unsafe
and insanitary dwelling units eliminated from the site of the
projects during the development thereof; and,
WHEREAS, by the construction of the Municipal Housing
project there have b en eliminated 83 unsafe and insanitary dwellirri;
units, leaving to be brought up to standard or demoahished
through the action to be taken by the city approximately 112
dwellings in order to comply with the requirements of said agree- I
ment; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Paducah further oblij;ated itself
to eliminate said unsafe and insanitary dwelling units before
March 11th, 1942, it is imperative that the City of Paducah take
immediate action in order to comply with said agreement by that
date;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COM1,11ISSIONERS

OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.

That Ray Wilkins, Building Inspector of the City of Paducah,
be directed to immediately ascertain from the list furnished him
b the Paducah Il
Y unicipal Housing Commission those houses which, '
by reason of improper construction or bad repair constitute a .fire
hazard, and that he give notice to the owners of said buildings
either to make necessary repairs and bring their buildings up to
standard or cause the same to be demolished, and if any owners
shall refuse to comply with such notice, he is further directed
to take appropriate action by causing warrants to be issued against
them for the abatement of the nuisances created.

j SECTION 2.
That Dr. C. E. Reddick, SuperinL-endent of the McCracken
I
County Health Department-, be requested to make an investi,;ation
of the conditions of all buildings shown in the list which has
been furnished to the City by the Municipal Housing Commission,
and to give notices to owners of buildings where insanitary con-
ditions exist that such condition must be remedied, and if any of
said owners shall refuse to comply with such notice he is further
directed to cause warrants to be issued against them for the creation

of nuisances on account of the insanitary conditions found by him.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adootion.
