SMITH, CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR, RECEIVE AND ACCEPT BIDS FOR THE PUROHASE OF BUILDING M1 TERI AL TO BE USED IN THE C ONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW ADDITION TO 4HE RIVERSIDE HOSPITAL, AND FOR qHE LABOR TO BE PERFORMED IN CONNECTION WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAID HOSPITAL; AND PRESCRIB- ING THE MANNER IN WHICH SAID BIDS SHALL BE RECEIVED WHEREAS, the City of Paducah proposes to construct and furnish at a cost of approximately w90,000.00 a three (3) story brick addition to the Riverside Hospital adjoining the East side of the new wing of said hospital; and, YH EREAS, under a commitment of the Work Projects Administration, the Federal Govern ment has agreed to contribute to said city the sum of approximately $40,000.00 or its equivalent for use in the construction of said addition, and said city now has available and on deposit in the Citizens Savings Bank at Paducah that proportion of the funds which it was required to raise for the purpose of financing said construction; and, WHEREAS, it will be necessary for the City of Paducah to purchase £ rom time to time the building materials required for use in the construction of said addition, and to enter into contracts for labor to be performed in accordance with the terms and specifications prepared by G. Tandy Smith, Architect, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUD AH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That James P. Smith, City Manager of the City of Paducah, ' be, and he is hereby authorized for and on behalf of the city to i ',receive bids for the purcl-ase of building materials and furnishings, to be used in the construction of the new addition to the Riverside Hospital, and he is directed to advertise for and accept all bids under seal, and which bids shall not be opened until 10:00 o'clock A.M. on the day set for receiving such bids. No bids shall be received after the hour fixed for opening the same. The City B4anager shall advertise in such manner as he may deem advisable for the receipt of such bids, except that the opening of such bids shall not occur within four (4) days of the date of such advertise- ment. Each bidder shall set forth the lowest cash price for the meterials to be furnished or the labor to be performed in accordance with the specifications contained in the advertisement for bids. Page 399 SECTION 2. That the City Manager is further authorized and empowered to accept, for and on behalf of the City of Paducah, the bid or bids which in his opinion is the lowest and best submitted to him after the advertisement therefor as provided in the fore- going Section of this Resolution, and he is further authorized to pay for such material furnished or labor performed by drawing checks upon the hospital constructions. ccount with the Citizens Savings Bank and such payments shall be made solely from the funds deposited in said bank for use in connection with the construction of the new addition or wing authorized under an ordinance adopted by the Board fo Commissioners on October 22, 1940, providing for the construction of certain additions and improvements to the Paducah Municipal Hospital. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
