AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE BID OF THE
RHODES-BURFORD COMPANY IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,477.93 FOR THE PURCHASE
OF FURNISHINGS TO BE USED IN THE NEW RIVERSIDE HOSPITAL, AND
AUTHORIZING AND EPLPOWERiNG JAMES P. SMITH, CITY MANAGER TO SIGN
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE CF
SAID FURNISHINGS
WHEREAS, it appearing that the bid of theRhodes-Burford
Company amouating to $6,477.93 for the purchase of furnishings
for use in the new Riverside Hospital was the lowest and best
which was submitted as provided by the terms of the Resolutiln
under which the City Manager was authorized to advertise for bids;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMWIISSIOVERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
That the bid of the Rhodes -Burford Company in the sum of
$6,477.93 for the purchase of furnishings to be used in the new
Riverside Hospital of the City of Paducah be, and the same is
hereby accepted upon the condition that said Company will comply
with all of the terms and sepcifications contained in the
resolution under which bids were requested, and the City 1.7anager
is hereby authorized, empowered and directed, for and on behalf
of the City of Paducah to enter into and execute a contract for
payment of the aforesaid purchase price in installments of
$539.83, without the charging of interest on any part of the
purchase price, the first installment of $539.33 to fall due on
the date of the delivery of all of said furnishings and an install
ment in a like amount to become due each and every thirty (30) day
thereafteruntil theentire purchase price shall be paid, and the
amount paid for said furnishings shall be charged against the
appropriation to the Riverside Hospital for the year 1940 in the
same manner as the expense of operating said Hospital is charged.
SECTION 2.
It being necessary to immediately equip the new Riverside
Hospital with §aid furnishings in order to take care of charity
patients adm3.tted thereto by the City of Paducah, and in order
to preserve, maintain and protect the public health and safety
of the City of Paducah, an emergency is hereby declared to

exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
