HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 10, Page 1401, No Ordinance Number1401 AN ORDINANCE DONATING TO THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY FOR USE AS A SITE FOR AN ARMORY A TRACT OF LAND LOCATED AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF 21ST AM MONROE STREETS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND AUTHORIZI:dG THE MAYOR AND THE CITY CLERK, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH TO EXECUTE AND DELIVER TO THE COT4WON'WEALTH OF KENTUCKY 14ILITARY DEPARTMENT ARMORY CORPORATION A DEED -OF CONVEYANCE TO SAID PROPERTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY. WHEREAS, the commonwealth of Kentucky has planned a program providing for the construction of armories upon land to be donated by cities, said armories to be used by the Kentucky National Guard and also by citizens for civic and community purposes; and 'WHEREAS, the City of Paducah is the owner of a tract of land at the Northeast corner of 21st and i:9onroe Streets and would be suitable as a site for an armory, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky has agreed to construct an armory thereon if said land is donated for that purpose; SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah donate to the Commonwealth of Kentucky for use as a site for an armory, provided the work of construction shall begin during the year 1946, a certain tract or parcel of lard located at the Northeast corner of 21st and Monroe Streets in Paducah, Kentucky, and the Mayor and the City Clerk are heveby authorized and empowered for and on behalf of the City of Paducah to execute and deliver to the Commonwealth of Kentucky Military Department Armory Corporation a deed of conveyance to the followin described property: "Beginning at a point on the North property line of 16onroe Street 296 feet west of the Northwest corner of the intersection of 19th Street and Monroe Street; thence in a westerly direction and along the North property line of I.:onroe Street 408.7 feet to the East property line of 21st Street: thence in a northerly direction and along the East property line of 21s; Street 347.68 feet to the South property line of Madison Street; thence in an easterly direction and slon,- the South property line of Madison Street 407.87 feet to a point 296 feet ',lest of the '::e6t property line of 19th Street; thence in a southerly direction parallel with 19th Street 347.68 feet to the point of beginning."
