A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PLANS OF THE WAR I,7EMORIAL
I
COMMITTEE TO CONSTRUCT AND PRODIVE AS A LIVING "JAR MEMORIAL IN THE
CITY OF PADUCAH A NEW JUNIOR COLLEGE BUILDING, A CIVIC CENTER
AUDITORIUId AND AN ATHLETIC FIELD OR' THE PROPERTY BETWEEN 701ENTY9
THIRD AND TNENTY-FOURTH STREETS AND BETWEEN SIASHINGTOP! AND JACKSON
STREETS
WHEREAS, numerous living war memorial projects have been
suggested by citizens of Paducah as fitting tributes to the memory
of those who gave their lives during the great conflict just ended
and,
WHEREAS, the i.:ayor and Iiembers of the Board of Commissioners,
believing that as far as it will be possible to do a memorial of the
kind which :rill satisfy the needs of all of the citizens should be
established; and,
'NHEREAS, a combination of projects consisting of a new
building for the Paducah Junior College, a civic -center auditorium
and a baseball park would provide the facilities most desired by all
of our citizens;
NODI THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED iyY THE BOARD OF CO_: MISSIOPIER'
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAIi, KENTUCKZ;
SECTION 1.
That the City of Paducah approve the plans of the War
Yemorial Committee to construct and establish as a living memorial
in honor of the men and women who made the supreme sacrifice durin
World War II, a combination of projects to include a nese building
for the Paducah Junior College, a civic -center auditorium and a
baseball park, with facilities to provide other forms of recreation,

and that the property in the blocks between Twenty-third Street an(
TWenty-Fourth Street and between Washington Street and Jackson Street
be used as a site for all three of said projects.
SECTIOD 2.
This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption.
