HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 10, Page 1098, No Resolution Number1098 G' A RESOLUTION A�'PROVING THE APPLICATION OF TIIE CIT"t OF PADUCAH MUNICIPAL HOUSING COMMI.ISION FOR THE ALLOTMENT OF FUNDS BY THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT FOR POST -;VAR L©PJ-RENT PUBLIC HOUSING ACCOT-9-IODATIOT13 IPI THE CITY OF PADUC.AH, KENTUCKY WHEREAS, the City of Paducah I:iunicipal Housing Commission has filed its application for the allotment of public funds to construct in the City of Paducah 275 additional housing units for white families and 100 additional housing units for non-white families, making a total of 375 housing units; and, ';VHEREAS, it is the considered opinion of the ;oard of Commissioners that the projects proposed are consistent with a sound public housing program for the City of Paducah, and that none of the families to be served can afford to pay sufficient rental to cause private enterprise to construct an adequate number of decent, safe and sanitary dwellin-gs for their use. NOW TIIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BI THE BOARD OF COT.iLIIJSIONERS OF T'IE CITY OF Pj0UCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTIOH 1. That the City of Paducah approve the post-war housing program planned by the City of Paducah Liunicipal Housing Commission, and that additional housing units be'constructed in the City of Paducah as soon as funds are allotted to said commission by the Federal Public Housing Authority and permanent buildinc materials become available. That the City of Paducah Tlunicipal Housing Commission enter into contracts for financial aid covering all of the proposed projects within three (3) years thereafter, to develop the projects in conformity with the United States Housing Act of 1937 (as amended) and to administer the projects so that the amount of annual contributions will be the minimum required to achieve rentals consistent with a sound public housing program. SECTION 2. That the City of Paducah approve the application submitted by the City of Paducah Municipal Housing Commission for the allotment of funds for Post-:Var Low -Rent Housing, and the T,iayor and Commissioners urge that sufficient appropriation be made for the construction of the aforesaid additional housing units. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
